My Mk2 S has just eaten it's 3rd cluch!! done 33K and of course they go just out of waranty
first 2 went with snapped fingers
I had some sort different thrust thingy (technical eh) fitted last time
this time sounds like a differnt failure, something to do with the clips inside the assembly, there are 3 and likley 1 has gone so it is difficult to get into gear when cold but reaonable once warmed up
anybody know of any other fixes or am I just ...ing unlucky

i know of the tuscan clutch beeing a short term thing but there's always the foot that controls it
have driven fast and track cars all my life but never suffered from clutch problems. my friend does but sitting next to him i know why. his foot is always on the clutch.
learnt in my young years that pulling away in a fast car should be done with sense and surely in the first gear (at least the first 50 meters). there's to much torque so to much chance you'll break something.

but coming back on your problem
check if they yust fixed new rings on the wheel or only changed the wheel the last time without fixing a new pressure group. sounds like a spring brake in your pressure group

Get one of these fitted.
I had similar clutch problems when I first got my car. Really spoiled the car and made it a chore to drive. Got the raceproved clutch fitted and not looked back (and I live in London so my clutch gets a very good workout). Much much better than the original unfit for purpose AP clutch.

Apparently they still had problems with them, he did say they are working on a further new design but he has not heard from them in some time so no estimates when it may become available.
suppose I will have to save up for another new clutch in 10K time.

Insert flat blade screwdriver through hole between bellhousing
Flatten spring clips in 6 places you can see, which is the stiffer spring as seen here.

The star-lock washers can come off/burst off the pillar and causing instant dragging

Best one is AP Racing latest one, by TVR Power

Mine was replaced at 24k miles - first time in my ownership. Engine was rebuilt at the factory at 14k miles and I would assume they stuck a new clutch in then? If they did then a clutch seems to last between 10 - 14k miles, if they didn't it lasts 24k miles. Of course, I've no idea how the car was driven by the first two owners but I'm defo not a clutch rider.
So, three clutches in 33k may not be excessive!
Shame about the Raceproved clutch - I was hearing good things about that but chose to put in the current AP unit in March 2007. Mad price for a clutch.

I spoke to Raceproved on Monday as my clutch has just died after 4 years and about 25k miles, including daily stop-start commuting.
They are doing an updated clutch now, but will only supply and fit themselves. Unfortunately there is a 4 week wait for the alloy slaves, as they've run out, so I'm having to go for an AP clutch and standard slave instead.
