Heater comes and goes

Mk1 4.0 - heater not working at the moment, was last time I drove the car about a week ago - been outside in the cold.

When working, when I flicked the dial from cold to hot I seem to remember there was a small thud which sounded like a flap either opening or closing. I'm not getting this now.

So, where to start? Something sticking/mechanical or an electrical issue?

In the passenger foot well, or at least above the footwell, there is the little black box for the heater matrix. One of the pins has a tendancy to burn out. There have been other threads on this and the same happened to mine.

YOu can try disconnecting the plug and cleaning up the pins, I had to get the box refurbed on mine.

Found the box up and in to the left. Gave it a tap and heater flap opened. Highly technical solution but at least I know its probably just a bad connection. Tuscan's just don't like being left outside in the cold!
