Tuscan "S" Specification

"The S has a bigger bore engine outputting more BHP than the standard (380-400 rather than 350-360). There are various other engine tweaks and are considered to be a little bit more robust.
The S version comes with a Hydratrak limited slip differential, close-ratio gearbox, gas discharge lights, airconditioning, a better suspension setup, it's lighter, has larger brakes up front, a DAB radio and external ariel, plus a front splitter and rear spoiler. The lights at the back are also placed differently to the standard model with the rear indicators being in the spoiler rather than LEDs at the top of the window and the brakelights higher on the rear."
On the MkII the rear lights are the same for all variants, and they are all fitted with a rear spoiler. The Tuscan S only came with a 4.0 lump.

£10k.....But the full spec includes CR box/Air Con/'S' Engine incl different injectors...but getting them depends what was available at the time. Not totally sure on the internals between a non S and S , but and S is the same as a Sag engine....TVR owner will disagree....Probably minor difference in the exhaust manifold size...but again seems to depends on bits available at the time.
PS The diff was also pot luck. 3:46 (normally) , should be 3:73 or 3:91 with CR box...but bits not always available.
PPS A small or large rear spoiler was always an option, front winglets std. on an S. Plus a RED cam cover of course.
PPS Forgot S has different rear springs and setup is harder.

Factory supplied painted cam covers only came in 2004/2005. Red S,Blue std., Black 3.6 ...before that most were unpainted. The question related to MK2 S's , I assume relative to a MK2 non S. Only a few (about 5) 3.6 Mk2s. Markotvrs is one, yes all S's are 4 litre.

3.6 tuscans are plenty quick enough for most
but you know you want an 'S'
The 3.6 is sweeter but the 4.0S is more growly, mean and beastly (which most prefer)
I thought the 3.6 was stroked to get to 4.0? Hence lower revs (7800 vs 8200).
as such the S is reckoned to be worth at least another 20bhp but being stroked the gains in torque are better still (from 290 to 315ftlbs).
Certainly the 3.6s only really get going over 5000 rpm whereas the 4.0S's stride begins at 4.

If its ex-rental it didnt do many miles and if its still tidy I wouldnt be so concerned.
OK it may not have had the recommended warm up but how do you quantify that other than do a thorough engine inspection.
There is also the argument about it being used as aposed to it sitting in a garage.

I think the answer is you assume - probably quite correctly, that it hasn't been properly warmed up and give it a wide berth because you can expect engine problems that won't be properly warrented.OK it may not have had the recommended warm up but how do you quantify that other than do a thorough engine inspection.
