Hi guys,

I have imported a 2000 Tuscan smile. To complete import I have to pay BPM (*&%#@ Dutch taxes) . Therefore I need to know what the Dutch nett newprice was in 2000. But... there were no Tuscans imported to Holland by Nimag in 2000.
Has anyone experience, and if so, what newprice and with which evidence for the douane ? A phonecall with douane at Gilze learned that they would estimate a newprice of E 53000,= for a 3.6. This means about E 2248,= tax (40% BPM + 1288,= slurptax * 0,9). I have a 4.0 Tuscan so they said it would raise taxes, but power and torque (and newprice ?) are not that different.

Can anyone help me with this ?

Regards Ronald

Ron the new price of the Tuscan at launch in 2000 was £39000 i believe cannot offer any proof though where was your car purchased new should be in log book if they are still in business surely they would be able to supply copy of original invoice. Perhaps TVR Power could offer written confirmation if you email them good luck in your quest

been there and done that
you don't have to do anything
the custom will tell you what it was worth
when the car will be checked they will need weights and figures you don't have
let them phone nimag and ask for an former import. (like mine or Matthijs hardys tuscan from 2000)
when they have the plate nrs they will be able to look things up in their database
as simple as that
import will be about € 2400
mine was € 3200 for an 2001 (and imported a half year ago in Gilze too)

A cheaper way is to import a salvagecar (Category D! and not C) You save a lot of importtax (BPM) but you have to repair the car after the RDW visit. I did it with a 2003 model and a 2001 Red Rose without any problem. But to repair the bodywork is another story. That takes a lot of time and hard work.
How many MK 1's are now in Holland imported?

Yep
MK1
they surely will still know my car (dark blue) and will know what they did to get all the required info. (it took me about 3 hours)
The only thing they need now is the info they used for my car. it doesn't matter that mines a 2001.
the ( bruto/netto) price was exactly the same. the factor will be different
it will take you < 1 hour and if you pay the import taxes directly you will have the plates within 7 days

hey Ochten.
with the prices beiing so low for a good tuscan i wouldnt want to buy a salvage car.
it's not worth the effort and it wouldnt feel safe regarding the twitchy steering rack of the MK1

I imported some Cat. D sportscars this year. Does anybody have expirience with Cat C. salvage cars?

With Cat C. cars you do not have a V5 from the DVLA. Only a export certificate and a CVO (declaration of the manufacturer)

In Holland is Cat. C unknown to the RDW seems to be. Who can inform me more please?

Hi Rens,

Thanks for reply.
I doubt the nett newprice in 2000 and 2001 was at the same level as every year (from 2001 and on) TVR raised prices.
From my point of view I would like get the lowest price as possible (paying tax enough already).
Where could I get evidence ?

ronspeedsix,
Also new to this forum, I imported a September 2000 Tuscan last month. That was quite an adventure and to write a book about. It will be less than Rens has indicated but still about 2200 Euros.
The best way is to refer to other recently imported cars. (Mail me on the forum to get my license plate for reference).
You can also have the car valuated by a registered professional, but it doesn't make a significant difference.
Waddinxveen is the venue where I had it handled.
Good luck.

Henri,

Did you buy your car from Andrew Heird ? I 've seen and driven that car 8 oktober 2009. He told me then he had more Dutchies coming to see his car. Fun...

I really would appreciate to get your license plate number for reference. Thanks in advance.

Regards Ronald.

The starting list price of the non-S Tuscan including BTW and BPM was 92,000 euro back in 2003.

Best is as said, find a 2000/2001 Tuscan with Dutch registration number, hand this over to the Douane when handing over the BPM form
easy as that

I did this 2 motnhs ago in Groningen importing my 2003 Tuscan S

I found the Customs office at RDW quite relaxed and friendly. "There was never a 4.3 litre Chimaera on the Dutch market - what do I do". "Ah, pick one that's similar". "Can I fill in the base price of a 4 litre, then?" "Sure".

Here's a Tuscan S 2001 too, Northern region Netherlands. For the RDW it's a regular Tuscan, not willing to pay extra tax for the spicier model!!

It seems the north is Tuscan S country, considering there's maximum 20 Tuscan's in Holland (can't be many more considering only a few are on autogespot.nl) at least 2 "S" types are stationed in Groningen
