Poor Tuscan 2S
Got hit in the side by a young lady who misjudged a corner, skidded onto my side of the road and punted me into the ditch.
It wasn’t a fast or particularly hard impact and nobody was hurt. (shaken but not stirred). I was surprised today to find the estimate for repair @ £31,000 (yes thirty one thousand). I had honestly been expecting it to be repairable.
The 3rd party insurers have accepted liability for the crash already so at least that’s not going to be a problem.
Had it from new fully spec’ed it myself, visited it the factory, picked it up etc. It was also the first customer Tuscan 2 out the factory when production restarted in 2004. I had planned on keeping it for a lot longer. I am pi$$ed to say the least.
If the chassis isnt damaged, it will repair for alot less than £31,000 and i mean alot less. If it get's written off, it will go to a certain salavge auction and be repaired and back on the road on the cat D. Depends if you want it repaired,sounds like a true love for you. If you dont want it repaired somebody will get a bargin at the insurance companies expense.

Which salvage auction would that be?I crashed my Mk1 Tuscan earlier this year.
No chassis damage but bouth from and rear ends smashed.
Relatively minor mechanical repair and lights replacement but full front a rear end body replacement.
The quote at 12,7k was considered very high by various people "in the business" and should have been more like 9k.
Th insurance paid me 14k for my early 2000 Tuscan and I later heard that she was sold for repair for 4k.
31k sounds rather high.
Anyway, you have my heart felt sympathy. The gut wrenching feeling is still fresh in my mind
I replaced my Mk1 with a Mk2 and absolutely love it.

Someone's having a laugh or a particular desire to get TVRs off the road. 
I agree with others. If the chassis is not damaged there is no way that should cost £31k. There are plenty of good glassfibre repairers. I have just used Option1 in Bromsgrove and they did a great job with my Ginetta. Whole car was repainted, the cracked bonnet repaired, new nearside front suspension for about £6k
They also do lots of TVR's and Lotus' (Loti?) There were painting a mk1 Tuscan (i think) in a very lairy lime green!

that's a sorry sight and a sorry story
It's particularly painful for me to look at as I also have a reflex charcoal Tuscan 2 and I'd hate for it to meet its end like that.
I've heard rc paint is very expensive but not so expensive that it could account for the 31k bill!

Spoken to the body shop today
No apparent chassis damage.
Needs new sill, wing, door. They say you can’t buy these individually so the quote includes a new body shell from which they will cut the bits they need @ £8K.
£1.5K for other parts (hinges, glass, new wheels/tyres etc)
Then £8K for paint materials (whole car re-spray as the reflex charcoal can’t be blended)
Then £9k labour
All plus VAT.
Seems wrong to me, any suggestions of where to get a more sensible quote from.
I would quite happily bin the “reflex charcoal” in favour of a more cost effective colour if it would help get my toy back. Reflex looks great but it is silly expensive and difficult to work with

What about either TVR Power's bodyshop, or Surface and Design in Blackpool? Either of them should be both more practised at replacing sections of bodywork without charging you for a full shell, and both should be able to give you a straight answer on whether it's possible to blend reflex paint.

Definitely ring Andy Windsor at S&D, I've seen loads of TVRs worse than yours being repaired there at nothing like that cost. Hope you have an agreed valuation on your insurance and not using their market valuation. 8k for paint is a joke, my front end respray (plus spare inspection bonnet,spare splitters and spare grill) wasn't anything like that (and its Red Glow which really difficult to match).....You might aswell get your bonnet hinged at the same time

£8k for paint and materials, please get another quote, as for body panels any fibreglass specialist could make them, not sure about the door though but they surely should be available through multipart.No apparent chassis damage.
