Hi,

I just want to clear somethings up if you can help, the following was posted on another forum I use...

looked at the data logger on the beast yesterday said the top readings were: oil pressure,99psi
water temp,99dec
rev,7000rpm
max speed, 203mph

Is that likely from a Tuscan S ? 203mph? Impressive car if so.

Evo tried to do it, and failed. Think they got to a scary 180+ before the front spoiler snapped?

The Evo guys tried twice to max it out, once the front spitter went, and the second time they went up to 180.85 mph, before they sh**ted themselves and called it a day!!

Funny you mentioned this, as I was looking at the stats on my Tuscan S the other day, and I get a max rev reading of 9,300 rpm which sounds far too high. And the max speed shows as 119mph, which is how fast I have gone (not on public road, of course..!)..

Does anyone know if there is a rev limiter and when it kicks in??

Ive had my Tuscan 2 S 06 up to an indicated 178 mph at bruntingthorpe felt very stable as good as my griff did at 120 , there was plenty left , that was with Gaz gold and what made a huge difference well balanced wheels all round.
awsome car , crap in the even slightly damp

It was the Mk1 S Evo tested... I would hope that the MK2 is an improved version and can go faster!

As Arapo says - the mk2 was a vast improvement over the mk1 aerodynamically! Ie/ they actually did some aerodynamics on it...

the high reading will come from a faulty reading from the sender thingy on the back axle.

Rev limiter on the Tuscan S kicks in at about 7200rpm, although it sometimes varies a little from car to car. Many people, including me, set their red change-up light to around the 6800rpm mark to be on the safe side.

Interesting... I wonder what that 9,300rpm reading could be. It sounds far too high... Could it be an error of some sort?

old thread, but related question:
Is there a rev limiter on a 2000 Tuscan (non-s)?

Yes, same ECU 7200rpm from memory.

Not sure thats so true is it?? What mods are you referring to? rear lip spoiler and winglets? They may be a vast improvement but can certainly be retrofitted if you wanted to go down the same routes.

Primarily...the aero is the same between the mk1 and mk2 shells is it not?

To answer the OP, i dont honestly think a standard mk1 or mk2 would do it...simply because of the poor factory setup. Power becomes secondary when its too unstable to use it!

When i first got mine (standard 4.0l), it didnt look like it had ever been adjusted...seized adjuster etc. Very very skittish...I was (genuinely) nervous above 120.

New shocks, wheel alignment and balancing, geo all round, SP Spacers and it incredibly different. (have seen 160 since and perfectly comfortable on that private road...)

I have no doubt that it would see north of 180 (and be perfectly stable) with a bit more work (bump steer mod / raise steering rack / splitter & spoiler combo)

Hi,

I have had 173 at Bruntingthorpe, with nitrons, geo set up, and a ride drive coach sat next to me, loads left. The car is far in advance of my drivings skills, although it felt very stable, and not at all skittish at this speed

Yep, had mine bounce of it a few times. Not sure on what the revs were though as too busy looking through the windscreen at where I was going laugh
