Electrical glitches or par for the course?
Discussion
Have recently traded in my Chimaera for a second hand Tuscan. On occasions the change up lights appear to randomly light up. Additionally the analogue speedometer jumps about 20 mph; It only returns to zero when the car is restarted! The dealer has assured me that these glitches are normal for the car. Recently the car has thrown up an error message; I think the diagnosis code is L.
Are these glitches typical or should I be concerned?

hope this helps..
A - Speedo sensor not activating zero switch or switch broken
B - Speedo sensor not releasing zero switch or switch broken
C - Water level sensor not activating zero switch or switch broken
D - Water level sensor not releasing zero switch or switch broken
E - Fuel level sensor not activating zero switch or switch broken
F - Fuel level sensor not releasing zero switch or switch broken
G - Water level sensor open circuit
H - Air temp sensor open circuit
I - Oil temp sensor open circuit
J - Oil pressure sensor open circuit
K - Fuel level sensor open circuit
L - Erratic road speed sensor input
O - No communications between analogue and control
Looks like you need a trip to the dealers to have the speedo sensor adjusted or replaced. One of the more common gltiches so well known and simple enough for a dealer to fix.

Just answered my own question by sitting in
the car with engine running and watching the
miles tick by.........lovely.My car has done
19,000 miles I wonder how many of those involved
some form of forward motion.

Is this common? If so, can mileages be believed?

Get it fixed. It's common, but not normal. If the speedo "jumps" 20mph the pod will need to go back to factory. If the digital speed is wrong as well, the sensor needs cleaning, adjusting or replacing.
Cheers,
Andy.

CHRIST!! you must be looking at a 6k service every week!

your servicing people must plug the car in to the computer and think your an absolute maniac behind the wheel when they see the telemetry!

On a similar theme my car often sits at 180mph
in the driveway and no I dont have a long drive![]()
Does this sensor also control mileage travelled as this
would be putting a lot of miles on the clock i.e 3 miles a minute!!!!
Col
Mine did this. New transducer (sic) fixed it.
