Looks like its got hottest around the battery (anderson connection) ? Is the n/s top wishbone is missing, not melted did it? How was the fire put out? Defo one for wreckedexotics.com

What was the cause? Everytime I hear about this problem with the Anderson connector I have a panic attack as I have a Tuscan in my garage alongside my Cobra kit car. Can someone alay my fears?

Sorry for your loss by the way.

I get mine checked on every service. Connections can corrode leading to a short - IMHO they're cheap enough to replace every couple of years.

Bloody hell, glad no one was hurt.

One of the first jobs i did was remove the old connector and wiring. I found the end of the + cable had corroded off the connector and was sat on the chassis. It was only the ammount of corrosion stopping it shorting im sure.

Looks like battery area where fire started . wish i known about problem last week !!! Are well time to start searching for a new one .

I would be asking the people who have serviced your car why they haven't been checking the electrics... If they are proper TVR service people they should be well aware of the need to check it out. If it's a back street garage, I guess that's the price you pay.

A little older and wiser and grateful your family are safe.
After loosing my Tuscan last year the pain has been replaced by the pleasure of owning a beautiful Mk2 Convertible.

Glad to hear you are OK Skippy, good luck with the searrch for another. I was worried about the anderson connector on mine. So as well as greasing it from the bottom and keeping it covered, I packed the top of the connector round the pins with silicone adhesive that way if the plastic broke it should help hold the pins apart to reduce the risk of a dead short.

That's terrible and something I fear. It's ruined everything you own and I feel truly sorry for you, although at least lives were not lost.

Is it just a matter of time before this "known by TVR" design fault leads to a death?
