Some b@57@rd reversed into the front of my car while it was parked in a Portsmouth quiet road, where I went with my girlfriend for what I was hoping to be a relaxing weekend.

They came at least 10 to 15cm into the car (thankfully from what must have been a taller car, otherwise the damage would be much worse), leaving an inch long crack at the front edge of the service bonnet, and quite a few very large scratches. I have not yet attempted to rub it with cream and see if it will get any better, but I doubt it. Plus the small crack, albeit small, it won't go no matter what I do. Not to mention that the service bonnet now does not sit straight any more...

So, should I wish to that "person" who did this, and of course didn't leave a note, to:
A: Rot in hell
B: Find his car burnt
C: Have his wife (or most probably husband...) cheat on him with the gardener
D: All of the above

On a more serious note, any ideas of what it would cost to have this repaired and re-painted in Starmist Green?? And where..?

I would go with all of the above.
Public stoning also comes to mind.

Bad luck. Some people are just scum.
Had someone do similar to me in Germany but fortunately an old lady saw it and waited for me to come back and gave me the plate number.

I seem to remember 450 quid for the repair and respray.

Had exactly the same happen to me. The cost to repair was circa a grand but that was for a colour match of a pear custom blue.

to bad but things like this happen
don't you have something like a garanteefund in you're neck of the woods.
overhere, everybody with an insurance can claim (without someone staing he's responsible for causing it) the costs at this garanteefund.
it take's a while but at the end they pay up.

I share your pain, import my Tuscan to Australia, pay thousands for a container, makes it all the way home and some c*^k drives a truck into the front with no note....Priceless!

Night Rider - looking at your picture, mine seems like a small scratch..

I wonder if there is a camera with some kind of a shock sensor that can be fitted somewhere on the car, maybe on the rear-view mirror, and record for a couple of minutes every time it feels a knock on the car.. That would be very handy...!

Well, claiming from the insurance will mean that next year I will be looking at a significantly higher premium.
And unfortunately, I don't have many options when it comes to insurance. I am insured currently with a company that gives me a green card for 12 months. And being Greek, hoping to take the car to Greece and leave it there, all the rest of the insurance companies only give green cards for 3 months a year...

Thanks Arapo, will be giving them a call.

Rens, we have no-claims protection in the UK which allows 2 claims in any 3 year period without effecting your no-claims. Its an insure your insurance system so costs a little bit extra.

Be very wary on the protected no claims bonus front.A friend had this when he wrote off his TVR and come renewal his premium had rocketed, when he enquired into this as he had protected no claims he was informed he was still getting his full no claims discount but the insurer had raised the original premium instead.

Why does he need to be warned? This is how it works!

You get a percentage off the gross premium, not a guaranteed net premium!
