My car is a standard MK1 Tuscan which has had the decat and chip, how loud would a set of CCCs be?, too loud with the cats off or ok?.

Rather loud I would say!

I had mine down for the MOT and it was bloody loud with the cats in. Made my grin like a mad man though smile

try it for yourself before buying
get 2 metal tubes that fit in you're existing exhaust cans. try to secure them and listen to the sound
if you like that you can have the tubes spot welded in you're existing cans or buy new CCC's
i would buy CCC's and keep the originals for the MOT

In my opinion, a decat and CC are Too loud.
CC with standard exhaust is about right, or decat with standad exhaust as alright but the two put together is just Toooomuch.

I tend to agree with that. I made a set of cans with 2/3 plain tube and 1/3 perf tube internally and fully packed them with insulation. A small amount of silencing works wonders and takes that "tinny" sound away but still retains a nice deep tone with the pops and bangs. Similar results can be had just partially sleeving standard cans. Just install 200mm long sleeve down each can and jobs a good 'un.

I'm running CCC's and cats and it's just right for me, i've heard quite a few tuscan's with CCC's and de-cats and it's crazy loud! smile Am I right for thinking that a tuscan with cats and CCC's should still pass an MOT?

it should pass, no reason not to, sound is not a measurement that is considered if it 'appears' to be standard.

Agree wit hwhat's previously been said. I got mune with de-cat, put CCC's on but it was too loud. I love the pops and bangs of CCC's so I stuck the cats back in and it's just about right.

Of course if you're a hooligan (Macey I'm talking about you!) you'll love the de-cat + sleeved/CCC's. Going through the Rouen tunnel en-route to Le Mans with that combo would certainly get you noticed ;-)

My 4L Std decatted (with NTEL's decat pipes) & CCCs makes about 125 db. I know of a 4L "S" decatted & CCCs that makes 130 db bow

So pretty load.

Rev it in an underground car park and just listen to all those car alarms you've set off - LOL.

I actually don't find mine too intrusive cruising down the motorway, but with the roof off hooning down the lanes - absolutely awsome biggrin

It's hard to keep a low profile in a Tuscan at the best of times tongue out,I don't mind the standard cans but one has blown a sleeve out while the other has quite a narrow one in which makes it sound like it's spitting a bit on tickover, so thought why not go the whole way and get some CCC's biggrin

Can anyone reccomend where to buy the sleves from as noted in the instructions on the Mytuscan.co.uk webiste? And would a 2/3 or 1/2 sleve provide a good half way house?

I got mine from here - http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDeta...

I used full length sections and with the cats still there it wasn't THAT much louder than normal.

RM75, thank you for this. The volume is nto the driver hear, but would like some more pops and crackles. Is this more obvious with the sleves?

Yes, the pop and crackle noises were the biggest change (improvement). It also sounds a bit "sharper" and less muffled, and less boomy on a motorway.

What diameter pipe is needed for a snug fit inside a standard Tuscan can?

I have a de-cat and CCC's (131 dB ears)and I too find it a little OTT at times. Modifying the standard cans with a partial sleeve sounds like it's worth a try. Does it make any difference to the sound where in the can the sleeve goes? Inlet or exhast end or partially along it's length?

I got 1 metre x 2" stainless tubing and the fit was perfect. They went in with a few gentle taps and then stayed there for the few months that I had them in. Also found that an olympic sized weight barbell is a perfect fit for knocking them back out again!

Now have CCCs just because I liked the stainless steel finish. These are maybe a slightly louder than fully sleeved cans but the sound is about the same.

So when the MyTuscan guide suggests a length of 400mm as a full sleve, would 200mm or 300mm do the job, keeping the noise down but the crackles and pops up?
