Just got the car and I love it!! So easy to drive compared to my Cerb. Small problem: The speedo doesn't always work. It is getting stuck at 10 mph mostly( although it is going up some times). It's also stepping down rather than being smooth! Is this the speed sensor that needs cleaning or is it knackered?

Also I'm unable to scroll through the screens on the centre unit. Is this likely to be the button or more likely a fault with the unit? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks

When I got my Tuscan, I noticed that the speedo would not go over 70. Then, when I cleaned the inside for the first time, I noticed that the glass thats over the speedo was pushed into the screen (probably when the previous owner cleaned it themselves...), and the needle was getting stuck on it.

I used my satnav's sucker to pull the glass away from the actual speedo. It still not 100% in place, as I was afraid that I would break it, but managed to make it come away enough, and the needle is working fine now.

It is a long shot, but try to see if this is the case with yours.

Good luck..

My screen was pushed in as well but I also had to change the sensor.
Dont know about your screen selection problem though.
Good luck.

when mine did this it was the fit between the speedo needle gear and the stepper motor worm gear, if they are fitted to tightly together it will stick. Strip down your dash and adjust the fit. If you have a long flat balded screwdriver you will be able to do this by just taking the top cowl off and looking down behind the first PCB, the stepper motor is secured with two screws.

Thanks....I actually cleaned the Speed sensor today but haven't drvien the car to check if that's helped. The sensor is a fair distance from the wheel though. Id say 3-4mm....I've read that 1mm is about correct. Does anyone know the correct gap?

1mm is the correct setting, need to replace my sensor too, so will probably set with some feeler gauges.

Does the sensor give the infomation to the analog Dial as well as the read-out on the pod?

IIRC if your speedo reads 180mph in a 30mph limit yikes fear not it is all to do with the speed sensor. smile

I'll get the feeler gauge on it - I'm sure it's set far to open......

It depends on which sensor has been used but the early cars needed a 10 thou gap, the later sensors needed a 28 thou gap.
The sensors I use for the ITS need 1 to 2 mm.

It does provide the signal to both the analogue and digital read outs.

Got the cowl off and can see the stepper motor. It has two philips screws either side. In what way can/should they be adjusted?? Thanks

loosen the screws off, move the stepper motor to the right (i think) slightly within the play of the bracket, turn the ignition back on, if it was jammed it and isnt any longer it will return to zero, the stepper drives until the switch tells it the needle is at zero...then nip the screws back up smile

Thanks. Am I right in thinking that if the digital speedo on the pod is reading ok but the analoge dial is doing funny things then the problem can not be the speed sensor???

If you have a digital readout the problem is with the speedo / speedo mechanism somewhere...
