I don't know the car but it is one hell of a cheapie if it checks out OK. Who did the engine rebuild and how long ago? Whats the chassis like? Has the clutch been replaced yet?

It could well be a bargain but alarm bells ring to me at anything so cheap - why?

it was a cat-d write-off in 2004. Does not have to be a problem.
Strange that there is no e-mail or other contact details but the phone nrs.
Is that first nr (07825) a premium rate nr?

No, anything that starts 07 is a mobile number - if that is all you have then make sure you know who you are dealing with.

Good information Guy's, had to be something wrong at that price, having said that I wonder what the value would be
if you went in with your eyes fully open, repairs were carried out 5 years ago.

I guess the service history/rebuild and condition will determine the value

thanks for your help

The fact it's a CAT D wouldn't put me off as the price is about right, but the seller does seem to be trying to hide it. Else why not mention it in the advert?

spoke to the seller and his wife yesterday and car is still for sale, no mention of cat D though. engine was rebuilt by dom (TVR power) about last summer, no clutch change, think they said its just had its 1000 mile service since rebuild. the car is also featured on the web page of a this place http://www.dreadnoughtgarage.co.uk/ (click on the tvr part of the website) spoke to them and they said it doesn't get used much and is a little rough around the edges. probably a good but at that price, especially if you still have some warranty left on the engine.

i managed to get another mobile number off the wife, although the first attempt was a bit strange (i think an employee answered it) if you want i'll email it to you. he told me that it had 4 new tyres (100 miles old) and 2 new wheels, carpets have faded but that an easy fix. he seemed to think that when the engine was rebuilt that most of the old engine was not salvagable and alot of new parts were used but i would suggest its best to talk to TVR power about the rebuild, what was done and how much warranty would be left. also they might be able to give you some idea on chassis condition as they would have got a better veiw of it than most.

Spoke to owner [aka Steve ] who didnt mention cat d at all -did mention total rebuild in blackpool by Dom and suggest i speak to claire at dreadnought in callander [jock tvr indie]
He told me he had just bought a ferrari and also had a couple of range rovers and another fancy mobile -and hence wanted rid asap -and that he was a busy businessman
then he told me some random was coming from Germany this week not to mention an offer from a radnom dealer ,but would take 9.5k -and he wanted to meet me at Gleneagles where he is apparently well known [yeh] -sounds like something out of only fools and horses [lol]
So for someone who owns a ferrari etc and is a wealthy business man -check out the photo on autotrader which is taken outside of a dodgy looking property -hmmm -doesnt all fit together
Steer well clear -if its too good to be true then it usually is .....
