Well I think its time to bite the bullet and get the engine sorted. Came back from Western S Mare this evening after looking at a car. On the motorway at steady speed the car would feel as if its juddering (as if dabbing the breaks now and then). Got home fine and as I pulled up the engine sounded a bit more tiny than normal, so went up the rev range to make sure it wasnt a vibration. Noise went but then the engine promptly went to 500rpm then 900rpm before cutting out with an error code L fault. Started it up and it did the same thing, there was also a hot smell like a sort of electrics smell.

Looks like a runaround car is going to have to wait, just booked the damn thing in for 4 new tyres as well lol.

Yeah the stem seals are going so she is burning oil on start up hence the new head...going to order it today smile

I had a simular problem with the Error code and juddering back in September, had a plug cable changed at service and it cured the problem. I am thinking that maybe the other 5 cables are in a simular state and could also do with being replaced. I did notice a slight blackish puff of smoke when letting off so could be as simple as a sparkplug is sooty (from the burning oil).

Started her up this morning and she idled at 500 - 600, rev'd up to 1000 and let it drop and it then sat at 700 - 800.
