I have been in touch with the guy who is going to make these. I am trying to get hold of a spare gearstick which can be used to make the first one. I am waiting to hear back from several breakers but if anyone has one lurking in their garage that would be a great help. He doesn't have a CAD model of the ones he made previously so will need to start from scratch but it's a simple bit of engineering

He couldn't give a ballpark price but when pushed advised it would be under £50, I am hoping quite a bit under £50 but won't know until he has the gearstick and done some figures.

What do people think?

£50 seems very expensive, but i realise custom one off jobs are always dear... I'd think twice (and I'm daft)... At £30 I think you'll get a lot more takers.

£50 is too much, i would probably say no to that. If i am right in my thinking, just a length of tufnol with a threaded hole both ends? Then a length of threaded bar added?

I would have guessed at the cost to manufacture being around £15?

I would be much happier paying under £30, as already said...

Hell, if i can find out the specs i will make them!!!

Just to clarify they will be UNDER £50 but no price has been set yet, I just wanted to know a ballpark figure which he wasn't able to give so I asked if it would be under £50 which he said it would. I was thinking of paying £25 to £30, no more.

Rob, if you want to get them made I am fine with that. I would have thought that G Varley would have the spec for them.

I have an update from Graham who is going to get these made. The unit price is £32.60, P&P by 1st class signed for is £3.50. Total £36.10.

This is based on 30 being made, at present there are only 23 interested people with one maybe and one who possibly wants 3 units. I don't really want to hang on to 7 units so do ask around otherwise I will get a quote for 25 which would put the price up a little.

I propose that I collect the cash, names and addresses first, then the heat sinks will be made and delivered 10-14 days after all payments have been collected.

IF YOU CAN EMAIL ME WITH NAMES, ADDRESSES AND NUMBER OF UNITS WANTED I will co-ordinate. Payment can be by bank transfer which I believe incurs no charges, paypal but I need you to cover the fees or by cheque. I will give you my contact details when I hear from you.

Mike,
My preferred payment method would be by bank transfer.
When you are in a position to go ahead, PM me your bank details.
Cheers!
Nick

I'd go for bank transfer as well. BTW, I am not on the original list, so you can add one to the numbers - will send details by e-mail.
