Got 4 new tyres fitted and just noticed.........

Instead of keeping the fronts smaller than the rears I've now got 255x35x18 all round !

During my recent service I asked for all 4 tyres to be replaced but didn't ask for the size or profile to change.

Really disappointed that this happened without my consent (and it was at a reputable place) , however, is it standard to fit same size all round OR as per all 3 of the Tuscans I've owned, always keep the sizes different.

Not sure what I should do next.....

I've read many a discussion about changes the sizes on the rear from 245 or 255 but never to change to the fronts to be the same as the rears.

It's got Goodyear Eagle F1s on just like the last set of tyres.

Really that's strange. Mines was fitted with different size front and rear front new.

Oh and the handling is poo even after 3 attempts by different outlets to set it up.

yep, 255's all around are standard on the MKII S and the Sag. However, smaller fronts offer a better handling.

Loads of tyre threads on here and loads of different options and opinions. 255 all round may look and corner grip better (on a race track), but increase the tramlining at high speed and bad roads...
And they are more expensive - might be the rooy cause in your case...

Have you told them what they have done.
They cant say you didnt tell them as they had your car and should have looked.

Were your wheel sizes the same.
I've got SP12's and they are different for front and rear.

I've just had my geometry set up for my Mk2 and it is much better but I still have a problem to sort out.

But for me the most important point is that i wasn't consulted first, it was just done.

Certainly not improved the handling and definately made tramlining worse than ever.

But for me the most important point is that i wasn't consulted first, it was just done.

So the Tuscan S, Sagaris and later Tuscans had 255's all round because it made the handling worse? It offers more grip both for cornering and braking......ergo improving the roadholding. If you find that your car handles poorly and suffers from tramlining then it's been badly set-up......fact, not crap!

As with having 4 new tires put on at once, it will feel squirmy until the tires have fully bedded in which from experience is between 3-500 normal driving miles. The difference between the front and rear wheels is the offsets. Irrc they're the same width.

Tuscans had 255s on the front because Peter Wheeler prefered the looks of big fat tyres on the front... I thought Sags had 235s on the front ?? Certainly talking to Ben Lang who designed / developed the Mk2 suspension...he designed for 225s on the front and the Press cars were always setup with 225s or 235s on the front..to reduce tramlining and improve handling.... fact

Wonder when someone changed the size of tyres on mine then.. 255s all over and mine was a press car.

You will possibly get what size tyres TVR had to hand at the time. My MK1 Tuscan had Toyo T1S 225's on the front and tramlined more than my Tuscan S which has 255 Goodyear GD1's all round.

My dealer tested my 2S with 225's front and said it was better on all surfaces than the 255's.

On the other hand, with the new Nitrons (which are set a bit softer) and stronger Eibach springs I have no complaints at all, so dampers/springs really play an important part.

Sales brochures had the Tuscan 'S' with 255's alround and the 'low-fat diet touring' spec with 235 fronts and 245 rears. Mine had the 235 / 245 spec originally and now running 235 / 255 Aysammetric Goodyears on standard suspension and the car feel more stable than on the old 'directional' pattern F1 Eagles.
