MK3 Dash clock time travel.....

Put some time aside today to try to sort the dash clock in my Tuscan II Convertible. No matter how many times I set the clock, after the ignition has been turned off the clock goes back to 33:20. I've managed to put this niggle of for ages but now I'm sure this isn't some form of time travel device I gave it a go. With the help of Mr Varley's excellent manual I found (I think) the dash ECU behind the engine ECU in a black ecu looking box. Having unscrewed the box and changed the battery inside I was pretty sure I was onto a winner and a relaxing beer. After resetting the time and then turning the ignition off and on I've traveled from 9:00pm to 33:20 again!

Before finding a phone number for Expensive ECU repairs Ltd has anyone got any ideas what else might be to blame?

I never heard of that one before..Cath Mason is best person for new ECUs but haven't got her number to hand right now... Give me a few days and I'll ask X-Works.

Have I got your car on the Convertible register ??? and all its details ???

The dash ECU is very sensitive to any sort of voltage disturbance, I had a similar problem with my clock when I un-plugged the ECU & re-connected it again.Sounds as though it will be a trip to Blackpool for your ECU, although once the clock is set if you don't turn off the ignition does it keep time?

I have similar problems with my clock (mark 2 targa). Originally, it the clock would just stop (always when I was driving) but would always go back to the correct time the next time I switched-on the ignition. More recently, it has taken-to displaying a fixed time (can't remember, but something like 18:30) and may, or may not, reset to the correct time when the ignition is switched off ad on!

have you tried asking/searching the 350 and sag forum as its the same set up i beleive on their cars.
Like you, first place id of looked would of been the back up battery im the ecu.

good luck dont forget to let us know the answer hope its cheap

I had something similar on my T350, Heath sorted it when he was in the TVR Svc cntr. Try him at X-Works.
