they get there because there is a small gap between the reflector and the bulb mount.
To remove them (it's not easy). Two options:
1. Cut out the Perspex "glass" and remove. Clean up the joint interface (a total nightmare). Refit the glass using some highly expensive proprietary stuff - etc. I didn't go that route on advice from Str8six.
2. Remove the main bonnet. Remove the inner wing covers, giving access to the rear of the lights.
Find a spare long piece of tube, the same as WD40 squirts through. Bond that using masking tape to the small sucker component of your domestic hoover.
Insert between bulb holder and reflector. Go fishing. Since the flies are very light the hoover grabs them quite well.
Took me a couple of hours all told.
