Sorry if all of these have been covered a hundred times before, hopefully some will be a bit different!

Are there any common niggles/breakages (besides the S6 engine stuff) on Tuscans to look out for that I wouldn't get on my Cerb? Any ideas on what date an engine will have to have been rebuilt after for it not to go pop again?

Does everybody run their S6 engine on Optimax, and does it make a difference?

Is the aircon any good; I'm debating whether I care about it or not?

I'm most likely going to keep my Nitrons and put them on a Tuscan if/when I get one in a couple of months... is everyone happy with the results from them?

Is the performance difference between a Tuscan and a Tuscan RR really noticeable?

Does anybody run their Tuscan with a sports exhaust and de-cat? I will want mine LOUD... Any cheap sports cans for it, etc?

Has anybody else on here had a Cerb first - if so, what do you think after swapping? Anybody raced a Cerb (preferably 4.2) vs. Tuscan in anger to see which is faster?

Does the Cerbera "budget £3k per annum" mantra hold for Tuscans, too?

Thanks in advance guys and gals! Still have to deal with selling the Cerb & then spending two months convincing myself that I sold it to buy a new car rather than because I need the money, but I can already picture it on the drive.

PS - Anybody want to swap an early Tuscan for a Cerb?

I run my July '00 non RR on 95 RON most of the time as I don't get much difference on Optimax. It's a bit smoother when cold but that's about it.

Aircon is worth it in my opinion. It can get a bit warm in the car even with the roof off.

I don't think there is a definite date for rebuilds, but the word seems to be that redesigned heads started to be used early 2003. Mine was rebuilt for the 2nd time in July 2002 and had a new cylinder head fitted. It's done about 9k miles since with no problems so far.

Definitely use the Nitrons. They were a major improvement on mine.

As far as running costs, I have paid 800 quid in the year I've had it for a 6k service and a new battery. I think 3k pa should more than cover it.

I have had a September 00 Tuscan from new always run it on 98 or Optimax. If you are looking for an early car you will benefit from the Nitron suspension as the OE will be well past it's best by date now,I have had it on mine for the past year and it is excellent. With regard to sports exhaust most go for the Carbon Can Co end cans, the look (you can have them coulor matched, in stainless or titanium) and sound is great. There are lots of video & sound clips of these on the sleepy-fish site mine included

www.sleepy-fish.com/images/videos/TVRs/Tuscan_2.WMV

De-cat pipes are also available but some say it makes them too loud with the CCC cans, other than that the cheapest way for extra sound is a 2" stainless section of tube inside the orignal exhaust can, although the extra weight can cause exhaust mount's to crack.

As to what to look for when buying a Tuscan TSS produced an excellent list, it is available on the Tuscan e-group site www.egroups.com/group/tuscan-owners in the files section although you have to join up first.

Engine performance difference between the standard 4 litre & Red Rose I doubt you will notice any as most seem to have around the same BHP.
