Unusual symptoms on start up
Discussion
Well bored working in Kazakhstan at the moment and just before I left have had an unusal problem on starting the tuscan when cold. It catches no problem with a little throttle but then the engines begins to "pulse" ie the revs keep jumping very quickly up to 2000rpm then back down to +/-700. It repeats a few times then begins to settle out.
Driving is fine and it pulls as normal. Just had a full set up about a 1000 miles ago so just wondering if anyone had any ideas that I can mull over before I get home.
Cheers in advance

do you press the accelerator once she has caught?
I did this when i first got her, to get the oil moving very quickly and relieve the top end.
I had the same symptoms and it turned out i was being a bit keen, the ECU has a soft rev limit built in with temp to stop over-revving, causes a pulse of the revs, quite unusual as you say!
So, now i am a lot softer with the revs on start up, just feather them up to about 1500rpm.

No I don't press the accelerator once she is caught as am always nervous about over revving. Basically haven't changed the way I start up etc. Tis weird.
Hi Allan. Go on Go on Go on you know you want a Tuscan. You might be right about the 95ron as I had to fill it up twice with the poor juice when I was way up North at a friends wedding and had forgot to take octane booster DOH and the sysmptoms had only started after that. It is back on Vpower so will go and do a few miles and see how it runs.
Cheers
