Tuscan to Cerb, your thoughts

Looking for some advice...

I have a 2001 Tuscan which I've owned for 2 years (my 2nd Tuscan) and been gradually sorting out the niggles on, I now love it more than ever as I'm more confident in it's reliability and it's more drivable. I often go out with my 3 year son in the passenger seat on short journeys and errands which is fun. I do however have a 10 month old son as well and if he loves "Daddy's noisy sports car" as much as #1 son I'm going to need more seats in less than a year.

So the question is, what are the pros and cons of a Cerb over a Tuscan? (excluding the obvious hard top and the 4 seats of the Cerb). Is the Cerb really than much more to run? Why did you go for one over the other? I guess I need to post this on the Cerb forum as well to get a balanced opinion - not saying that us Tuscan owners are in any way biased of course

My Cerb cost me far less to sort out niggles to service and run than the Tuscan has, and it was older!!! But, i dont think thats the whole story.

The cerb is much more of a grand tourer IMHO, dont get me wrong though when you wind it up, my god it shifts, but, ironically, the Cerb is less practical in many ways!! The doors are huge so getting in and out is difficult, especially if anyone parks next to you. It is very long and at low speeds can be a PITA to move around. The cabin is fairly close and can be a bit closed in really, the Tuscan is far more open. On the plus side, i dont think long term they are much different maintenance cost wise, i think i was just lucky with my cerb. The rear seats in the Cerb would only be good for a couple of years as well, after that - no chance, they areally are small!!

Tuscan is easier as doors are smaller and its a physically small car. Performance wise the Tuscan is quicker off the line, i would imagine they are the same to 100 and after that the cerb would pull away, but i think thats probably a stability thing - if you could sort that there wouldnt be much in it.

I still love the Cerby and the Tuscan has played me up with its engine more than i had hoped, so i have a real soft spot for the Cerby that was far less trouble, but different people have different stories i guess!

I have babbled a bit but to be honest they are both fantastic!!

Cheers guys. And thanks YKB for that link. Interesting debate. I'm going to stick with the Tuscan for now and probably put more serious thought into a Cerb in the new year but will be keeping my eye on the classifieds!

I went the other way after I wrote off my Cerbera. I found the Cerbera much faster at the top end (414 bhp) compared to my ordinary Tuscan and much less twitchy. The Tuscan is much bigger inside and has a footrest for the left foot which increases practicality. My cerbera cost me much much more to mend and just reinforces the idea that there are TVRs that are money-pits and others that are pretty reasonable and that it is probably not model dependent. Both fantastically noisy and an event to drive as my everyday car and both awesome value.
