Help.....window stuck down and draining battery

Looking for some help please - my driver's window is stuck in the fully down position, and won't go back up. It appears to be draining my battery to the point that the car won't start.

I've taken the door card out, disconnected all the connections to try and remove power from the motor - i've also taken out fuse #7 (drivers window ecu).

But how can I get the window back up and get the motor freely working?

I suggest you swop the ECU`s over to see if the problem swops to the other side. The ecu`s are under the center console. By switching them over you can raise the window and one door will open and lock, you can alternate them between the doors untiled fixed. The ECU if it is the fault can be repaired at the site below. It does sound like the problem I have recently had.

Hi.I had the same prob over 18 months ago,my trickel charger pack in,and my battery half draind out.
I tried to start the car, but it would not start, it was slow turning, because of battery.My windows
would not go up,i had to barrow the jump leads to start the car.Once you start the car, you need to
arm it,and disarm it,because ECU want reconise it. see if this helps.

Thanks both, I think collectively there's something in what you say.

I think it's actually the trickle charger fitted to the car that is in some way faulty as swapping to a second one which uses the cigar lighter to charge appears to have done the trick. I was able to start the car last night (the windows lifted), and battery voltage seems to be maintained. I'll try and start the car again today and if it starts I think the culprit.

The drive's window 'got stuck' in the fully down position because of the lack of current to drive it back up. It seems to take a real effort to lift the driver's window, a job for another day!

My trickle charger has an inline fuse next to the battery (I presume this is standard practice?) which was completely corroded away - I guess due to salt on the roads and the very clever and convenient placing of the battery in the wheel arch! It meant that despite my religiously plugging in the charger over winter it never actually charged the battery and eventually the battery packed up and needed replacing! I'd check that first if I were you. If you do replace the battery look at the Optima Red Top, they get very good reviews on here, expensive but worth it. Tayna.co.uk seem to be the cheapest

I've learned very quickly from my last experience.I keep a spare trickel charger,a 12 volt battery charder and a jump leads, just in case.
