Clutch Replacement Options
Discussion
My clutch is on it's way out and from the way it feels i think its the pressure plate with the fingers that snap or wear out. The car has just done 20,000 miles so i believe its a typical time for this to happen.
Question is do i go for a standard AP Racing clutch or try the Race Proved version along with the Race Proved redesigned slave cylinder.
If anyone has any expericnce with these i would love to here it so i can hopefully make the best decision.
Any advise welcome, many thanks, Rich

My clutch went 6 weeks ago the pressure plate fingers have broken again.
I called Race Proved about 4 weeks ago and they were out of stock of their slave cylinder, they are waiting for a new batch to be manufactured.
I have done a bit of research in the mean time and narrowed it down to two options.
TVR Power sell an uprated AP racing clutch and light weight flywheel package, this along with Race Proved slave cylinder is the option I will go for.
Alternatively Racing Green sells a super lightweight flywheel and non standard size racing clutch but it's not cheap.

Interesting.
I pick up my '03 Tuscan (having done ~25000 miles on the original clutch) this evening or tomorrow morning with a brand new Raceproved clutch and slave fitted.
Purchased the parts direct from Raceproved and had them delivered to Castle/Hilton&Moss for fitting.
Raceproved are leery of selling direct to the public.

I spoke to RP when my previous clutch failed late last year. I'd heard good things about the slaves but mixed reviews about their rebuilt clutch packs. Their theory was that dodgy set up was leading to the early failures so, at the time, they would only supply and fit their latest modified clutch units.
They did not have any of the slaves in stock so I ended up going with the AP unit.

Thanks for all your feedback, after talking to TVR Power about the uprated clutch i have decided to go with the standard AP Racing unit. This is due to been advised that the uprated clutch is quite heavy to operate and only really necessary with a supercharged or nitros kit engine.
I was also assured that the quality of the AP Racing unit has increased since they were first fitted and some of the failures were due to incorrect fitting of the slave cylinder which will be corrected if applicable.
I would have opted to have the race proved slave cylinder fitted at the same time but as they have none in stock it will have to wait. I will just replace the original slave seals whilst the clutch is out.
