Newby Questions. Heater ECU - Where is it?. Plus niggles

I want to check the connections to my heater/fan ecu as the fan comes on and off especially when runningthe aircon. I don't want to remove all the carpets from the foot well so can someone please let me know exactly where to find it. I know is the passenger footwell, but where?

Also where are the 100amp fuses? I understand that there are two.

The car is a Nov 2000 Tuscan

I am building up a list of little jobs that keeps getting longer! I was also wondering if there is anyone out there with an early Tuscan that has sorted all the niggles.

I have had the car for 3 weeks, here is my niggles list:

heater fan intermittant
Rear lights not working (to be sorted by garage, who have tried and failed once)
slow passenger window
scratch on drivers side door trim
anti squeak tape on rear screen
polish scratches from rear screen
geo check
new gear knob (existing one is scratched)
new key blade (where can I get them and what are they off?)
properly fix dash pod (needs some glue)
check and replace 100 amp fuses
replace ignition leads
remove and re fit exhaust cans (they blow around the join as they havent been fitted properly)
gear knob heatsink
exhaust vibration under accelleration
one windscreen washer not working

Niggles I have attended to in first 3 weeks
intermittant indictor
correct tyres fitted (makes a huge difference to handling!)
scratches to leather touched up
throttle cable replaced
refitted reversing lamp as it was loose
properly attached battery compartment cover
race proved rear screen clips
replaced driver door mirror glass
2 new key fobs coded to the car

One further question. Engine temp seems to be around 78-80 degrees most of the time in this weather. Is that right? The car has a new aluminium rad. fans come on at the right temps if its left stationary.

TBH I dont think I have all that many niggles for a 10 year old car. I think the last couple of owners needed to show ity a bit more TLC although the last but one did have engine rebuilt and new clutch

My Heater/Fan ECU is located behind the carpet in the passengers footwell tucked up under the dash. Can't help with the 100amp fuses as I had mine changed during a service to 125amp.

You can get a new key blade from most key cutters, I think it's a vauxhall. Just make sure the one they are going to use is long enough.

Your engine temp seems low mine gets up to 96-98 with an ali rad, may be a temp sensor. Get your dealer to do a diagnostic check as the readings on the pod are often different to those at the rad.

I replaced the screen wash hose all the way from the bottle including a new check valve. Also replaced the wipers for ones with jets built in, so removing the crappy tube the factory fitted. The 100 amp fuse is under the carpet right in the centre of the footwell. There's also one in line by the starter motor.

Where did you source the mirror glass from? Was it an easy fix?

The mirror glass is from a VW corrado, so any VW dealer (although I got mine from David Gerald TVR). Its a very easy fix, took 5 min. I used a screwdriver to prise off the old glass (padding it against the paintwork), you then pull the two wires with spade connectors off the terminals on the back of the old mirror. Push them onto the terminals on the back of the new mirror and gently push the new mirror into the housing until it clicks into place.

I have been looking at those wipers with the spray heads built in, they look much neater. How much hose do you need and where did you get the check valve?

I got a pack of the 4mm and I think two packs of 3mm, plus the check valve all from Halfords. Getting to the bottle is a bit of a ball ache, but once I had my extra joint in my forearm fitted, it was OK.

Fixed my slow passenger window with a little WD40 in the seal, had to remove the door panel as the window stuck down on the way back from picking it up.

Have a similar list to you, but includes fitting the spacers and needs a really good clean. I keep saying I am going to jack it up and take the bonnet off, give it a good once over but then the sun comes out and the thing gets out of the garage again.

I have to sort the AC, spray the front (stonechips), and glue all the trim back down.

Still love every minute of it........

I have the spacers, and before i bought it the previous owner had it detailed so the paint is like a mirror, and the front had been resprayed. Chassis may need a bit of waxoyl, or POR, I need a proper look
