I've still got lumpy running on the car, so I'm now really wanting to try out the Dreadnought throttle bodies...

Looking at other (older) posts, it sounds like they'll only fit them themselves. As it's a 700 mile round trip to Glasgow and back, along with losing a complete weekend (or possibly taking time of work) in the process, on top of £80-100 on petrol and £400 in parts & labour, I'm basically not willing to do that to fix an inherent flaw.

So, question... has anybody got them to deliver the throttle bodies to a dealer/specialist in England for fitting?

I'm sure that when I was looking at this option they offered to send them to a local dealer.

I'd suggest getting on the phone to them - I'm sure they'd be delighted to help!

Cheers

Cheers! I've considered the ones from SFR, too, but don't think they're as good a design as the Dreadnought ones. If I can't get the others shipped down from Scotland, I'll give them a shot.

What is the difference between them?

Dreadnought one has proper bearings, APM one is the same principle as the original one, but made from tougher material, as far as I know. Will be doing lots of phoning round and trying to come up with a definitive preference over the next day or so... only the finest for my baby!

Sounds as though the Dreadnaught ones are the best then.Let us know if they will deliver them, although from previous post they say not.It would save me a 1200 mile round trip if they did.

I am suffering the same problem as J S G. Very lumpy running at constant throttle.

Does anyone know if J S G ever cured his problem by replacing the throttle bodies?

I'm worried that it is engine rebuild time. Is this lumpy running at constant throttle a sympton?

I'd get the coil pack and HT leads looked at first. That's most common cause of lumpy running at constant throttle.

Dave, Nice choice of colour.

I've had the HT leads changed (not sure about coil pack). I think I'll ask offords to take a look and also ask them to balance the throttle bodies too. Hopefully that will cure the problem.

Very worried as only just got the car and it's not fun to drive unless you floor it everywhere (Not good when engine is cold or in the centre of Cambridge).

He did! The re-bushed throttle bodies did the trick.

How do I know? I bought his car and it hasn't been 'lumpy' for nearly two years!

If you want I'll dig out the receipt and find out which ones he went for.

Neill

As an aside - worn throttle pots could cause this symptom, rather than the actual body itself......this could be checked with the requisite software.
