ladies and gentlemen, pursuant to your very generous and swift advice in reponse to my last question, i was wondering if you might be good enough to offer more.

my brake lights seem to have taken it upon themselves to be on all the time. is this a common or easily fixable problem?

thanks in advance once again.

Hmm raising ones foot from the pedal often works for me. Sorry I know I'm not a lot of help but I think it can be fairly easily adjusted, as this has happened to me in the past and cos I am mechanically challenged my dealer sorted it in a couple of mins.

When releasing the brake push the lever over to the left and the light should go out.

The switch needs cleaning

your switch needs adjusted, take off the plate covering the pedal assembly(held by the 3 allen bolts) and you should be able to see and adjust it.

I had the same problem, the dealer tried adjusting the switch twice - each time claiming they had fixed it. In the end they had to fit a new switch which cured it.

You could quite easily do it yourself. I *think* you could buy a similar switch from somewhere like Maplin.

tried to get the plate off, but after the three bolts there appeared to be a couple of other bolts holding it in - i gave up (pathetic i know). anyway problem solved with a new switch at the next service.

all the same, thanks for the advice guys, you dont need to offer it and it realy is very much appreciated by crap diy-ers like myself.
