Without wishing to sound like a lead footed freak, is the Tuscan noted for having extremely sharp brakes?

Okay, I've only done maybe 150 miles in less than a week of ownership, but I find it difficult to bring the car to a smooth stop.

It's okay at speed, but I'm talking about crawling along in traffic. I find it very hard to bring the car to a smooth stop, the brakes seem very 'snatchy'? Is it me?

I don't think it is warped discs as there are no other symptoms like pulsing etc. Having had a front wheel off (different problem), I did see that the pads in that caliper have a lot of material left on them. It could be that they are fairly new and are still bedding in maybe?

Advice gratefully appreciated. Please excuse my newbie ignorance.

Phil.

Hi Phil, I've found exactly the same, not at all progressive at first, in fact a bit like a switch; ON or OFF. Rest of the car makes up for it though, don't you think?

I find the brakes absolutely fine, very easy to guage how much pressure I'm putting on, etc. Although, mine probably has slightly different brakes - RR spec to begin with, and now has a couple of Cerb 4.5 discs on it.

could be the pads ? some high kevlar pads are sometimes like that (pagid, etc).

something like a set of green stuffs might help. less brutal at slow speeds.

work fine on my 300zx tt at the mo, and seemed to work good on the tuscan I had the pleasure of being driven in a few days ago.

This is gonna sound like a silly question, but have you tried keeping your heel on the floor when you press the pedal?

I know the Tuscan pedals are floor mounted, but its a technique used while getting used to air brakes which are also very sharp.

Maybe, possibly, perhaps?

I'll get me coat...

I couldn't tell you if I am keeping my heel on the floor or not! I'll conciously give it a go next time. More worrying problems at the moment like a dodgy pod and EFI warnings :-(

Thanks all for the advice.
