Just on the off-chance that the guy who designed the bonnet for the Mk1 Tuscan pops in for a read, can I ask a question? Did this idea come to you after a heavy Friday liquid lunch? Surely gaining access to the engine bay should not be quite so difficult. And as for putting it back on! fk!

Yes, seems a strange design. I would like to get the hinged bonnet mod which could have been done as standard.

It's not so much the lifting on and off as the stupid little locking pins at the back end. I'll have to train a snake to get in there and do them.

I can't get my hands in the gap between the bonnet and scuttle panel to push my clips either, so use the end of a pen or a flat blade screwdriver, however if SWMBO'd is around wink

Totally agree, he needs a slap. I have a nice scratch on the front of the Tuscan to justify that slap...frown

I bought a bit of plastic tube from B@Q and rounded the ends so it can't scratch the paint. Works a treat on the catches and I can do both from one side of the car.

Wouldnt take off the bonnet on my own though!

Contact GLOW WORM - a gent who lives in Preston area.
He has had conversion done, and would no doubt be happy to give you all details you need.

Being 6'2" and built like an ape, I have no problem with the bonnet on my own its just about being careful and getting the right angles. The upper release points vary between cars and mine has enough for me to get my sausage fingers into for release. Am I just lucky ?

I struggle to get to the catches as well...

Lifting it off isn't a problem, but it's getting it loose at those damn catches.

Normally mine should be booked in at Surface and Design to get the hinged bonnet, their conversion keeps the possibility to open both bonnets separately (obviously the main won't come off without the service bonnet being open).

Bad news is: I believe the catches are still used...

Has anyone got a decent picture of the tool which is apparently designed for the rear catches?
