I have the not too uncomon ECU Warning problem which will not clear. The car is a 2000 and only has a 2 pin ECU connection socket. However I have taken the cover off the ECU and it has a female serial port on it. I bought a serial lead, but on testing it, pin 1 is not connected, and I am useless at soldering.
So is there anyone here and would be prepared to make me a lead which works. Male end for the ECU and USB on the other, as I can't do this myself, nor keep having to get to the gargae to have the damn thing reset. Goes without say that I will pay for this.
I have tried all the usual sources but to non avail as they are all 3 pin which I can't use, or from Maplin etc.

You'd need a serial to USB converter. Something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Serial-adapter-converter-c....

The other point is that an off the shelf serial lead won't work well and may even cause damage to the ECU. The pinouts are not standard and the extra pins on the ECU serial port are used for other functions. The PC will try to drive them and the end result can be a bit of a mess.
