Car stereo wiring and speakers

Looking to change the headunit in the Tuscan and have a wiring question. It has the usual wiring connector, but there is also a light green wire that is wired directly into the back of the head unit and then off into the back of the dash. I don't have the manual or seem able to find the correct model online. Not sure if this is an earth or how to remove or if it's even required, very little wiring experience so apologies for the daft question. Head unit is the standard fit (I think) pioneer keh-6600rs.

Next question is are there any usual routes to upgrade the speakers? I have 2 pairs of infinity 16.5cm speakers so would ideally like to use these if possible?

Not sure on the wire? Only thing i can think of is a dimmer for when your lights are on?

My upgrade, incidentally i have upgraded again I have changed to a Genesis Profile sub amp for the rear speakers and 2 x JL 6W3V3-8 for the rear speakers, the whole thing now is incredible, trouble is the weather is too cr@p to drive the car!!

Another big thumbs-up for Genesis - my subs and rear components run off a Profile 4 which is an incredible amp for something so tiny.

It has a pair of Genesis Profile 6x9 subs mounted on a hidden MDF panel at the back of the cabin, driven in mono off the Genesis amp. The other two channels of the amp drive a set of 4" MB Quart components mounted in the standard speaker positions, while the 3" infinity speakers on the dash run off the head unit.

Speaker wiring in the Tuscan is a doddle There's loads of room to run wires in the sills if you pull the carpet away, then it's easy to thread the wires up behind the seatbelt/side panels and through the void above the wheel arches into the boot. One of the advantages of the Tuscan's hand built nature is that there are no fiddly clips to break, just liberal quantities of spray adhesive needed when you put everything back!

Cheers, both of those set ups look really good! Not wanting to go that far yet, but like the idea ofthe enclosure at the back shelf at some point.

This is the wire I was talking about, pretty sure it's an earth but going to have a poke about with the multimeter at the weekend when I get a spare few mins.

Nothing fancy - a bit of 3.5" diameter cardboard tube lined with Dynamat and covered with black carpet!
