I think this has been mentioned in this section before; Racing Green have a 2011 Tuscan "finished in lambourghini metallic orange" listed in the classified section.

Price based on spec.

Any thoughts?

Beat me to it. The asking prices for these 'new' cars really take the piss. We can only hope nobody is daft enough to reward the greed.

Yeah, what a piss-taking ripoff eh?

After all, anything over £25k for one of these crappy so called 'new' TVR's gotta be a ripoff, hasn't it?

And look at the prices Fernhursts are getting - what a con!

And there's no way we want the value of our cars to stay high is there, much rather have it fall, yeah?

Stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap, 'cos really, they're worth diddlysquat, right?

Or, rather, perhaps you stop 'sour-graping' and hope there is a steady stream of people "daft enough" to buy one?

Considering the number of potenial buyers that visit these pages, I would have thought it better to be talking up prices.

currently it takes the best part of £40k to build a tuscan from scratch, not sure what price RG are asking for new ones but if i were building them and they were costing me 40k i would want a profit margin on top or i may aswell sit at home if i sell them at cost.
not a fan of RG myself so not a defensive post, just happen to know build cost currently. Margins at TVR must have been very tight

Wow, sorry if I touched a nerve.

I think most values are fine and am under no illusion what mine might sell for should I decide to go that way. It always raises a wry grin when I see these cars come on the market because they are often overpriced. Call me cynical if you like although a slightly less aggressive tone might be more appropriate.

To put this into context if you had looked (and understood what goes into) some of the str8 six prepped new cars, which were at a reasonable price in comparison, you would understand the comments.

Have no problem with pricing cars high so long as they are worth the money, the cars from str8 six im sure were. The cars from RG?, well i wouldnt be so sure, but than thats just a subjective opinion based on my encounters with them in the past...im not a fan, i think they are greedy and operate at high margins based on a good name (that didnt deliver when i came to test it), good luck to them if they can continue to do so...

Out of interest, if TVR were still making cars and offered a new Tuscan for £45k-ish would anyone question the value of the car? I have seen and sat in the cars and they are very nice indeed. In fact, as with the Str8 Six cars I would have thought they would have been finished to a higher standard than the 'mass produced' TVR-built cars.

If TVR were still in production I am sure the prices would also have increased, the last price list I seen for 2007 a basic Tuscan would have been 46K, bring it up to S spec with full leather and high spec paint and you would be over 60K. The Str8six ones did seem well priced compared to this. Don't know what RG would be asking for this one, but I bet it is expensive.

Based on the 2007 price list, my 2000 car would have cost just shy of £51,000. This represents an iuncrease of 11.5% over 7 years. I think that is pretty good and you could argue that perhaps Tuscan's were either overpriced in 2000, or underpriced in 2007!

Prices in 2006 were the same as in 2000, so when I bought my Tuscan S in 2006 it seemed quiet a good deal, particularly as the build quality was so much better.

There's a difference between greed and making a reasonable profit. So many other TVR dealers and specialists have gone because they didn't make a profit so why do you begrudge RG doing so???

it dosnt on the add, but i cant see them finishing it and selling it cheaper than id sell mine for,
i didnt mention a price nether did they, people are saying it cost 40k to build one, (assuming not using metro as donor parts.)
A rough idea can be seen on RGs web site

Im not saying saying any thing about there prices for a limited production (which should have an extra premium (depending on other factors))

Just I have a 2007 car that could be bought cheaper than a RG built car, that assuming is registered as they say its 2007 im surprised its not actual a car just rolling shell by the looks

It seams that since the TVR brand was bought from the original owners (that had to sell) most people are intent on slagging off all that people like our Russian friend and RG are doing to improve and keep the brand alive .

Sales show some do/did think Tuscans are worth over 45k its a fact thers/was a demand .

I say good luck to them and I hope they sell. I would imagine that they're making a car that has all the years of experience and improvements built into it, so that won't be cheap. I'd like to see how they turn out
