Help! Can't disengage the immobiliser!

Car is garaged but battery went flat due to the weather here in Scotland and I hadn't hooked it up to the charger. (!) So I recharged the battery.
- the remote works - the alarm sets
- the doors and all electrics function
... but the fuel pump doesn't prime and the immobiliser red light stays on permanently.

I have plugged the stick in to the slot on the dashboard - from both sets of keys - but no change.

Has anyone had this happen? .. and fixed it?

I had something similar happen when I had a Griff (pre 1999) but it had some kind of reset at the battery connections ...

remove and replace the immobilser batt fuse Failing that disconnect and reconnect 100 amp fuse in passenger footwell

Ugh! This means trying to get at the fusebox while the car is in the garage ... Not looking forward to this ! Need to be contortionist

maybe disconnect and reconnect battery might work...not sure...could be better option if access is limited! hopefully some1 will be along in a mo to advise if that would also do the trick

Without being an expert, I seem to remember reading that this might work in another thread.

Of course, getting to the battery if the car is in the garage will be tricky. But you can push it out, I guess..

On my Chim, you simply disconnect the battery for 20 seconds,reconnect and immediately press the alarm plipper. This resets the immobiliser. It might work on the Tuscan too, i haven't had the need to try it yet

It worked for me when my battery had gone flat. Not sure if it's easier to get to the battery or the fuse though! Good luck

Thanks for all the posts ... I'll be trying the fusebox options at the weekend (not sure about the battery disconnect option as I would have to take the wheel off to get to the box and I don't have a suitable jack anymore)

... but I do have AA Home Start!
