SORRY tyres again !!!!!!

I have a Tuscan conv 2 with 235x40 on the front and 245x40 on the rear. These were the sizes from the factory. Do I keep to these sizes as there has been a lot of talk of changing the fronts to 225?. Secondly is the make of tyre Goodyear,toyas,bridgestone or verdestiens very confusing. I'm not looking for a cheap tyre just one that works good with a Tuscan. All coments welcome
Ok, lets get some actual facts down about tyre sizes shall we?
The latest Factory Sizes for 18" Spiders:
Tuscan Mk1 and Mk2: F 235/40/18, R 245/40/18
Tuscan S: F 255/35/18, R 255/35/18
225's were fitted to early Tuscans by the factory but they were later changed to the above sizes. The only T-cars that maintained the 225 fronts were the Tamora and T350 which have different geometry to the Tuscans.

Except that the original front size for 18s on non-S Tuscans (like mine) from the factory was 225/35 x 18. They changed to 235/40 in early 2003 when they swapped from S02s to Toyos from memory. The rears went from 255/35 to 245/40 at the same time.Factory Sizes on 18" Spiders:

I'm sure the OP is very pleased with all the ramblings about Mk 1's, Red Rose, and 'S' spec cars, but he was after advice on the tyre size for a Mk 2, non-S spec Tuscan convertible running 18' wheels.
As above, the original factory tyre size for your car was the 235/40 front and 245/40 rear which was what mine came with. Since the last set of Goodyear GSD3 spec Eagle F1's wore out, I've replaced with a full set of Goodyear aysametric Eagle F1's sticking with the 235/40's at the front and going with the 255/35 'S' size tyre at the rear. I was tempted to go with the full 255 tyre all round but have heard reports that it results in awful tramlining.
I've not noticed a huge difference other than the new spec Goodyear's are much better in the wet, they cut through standing water much much better than the old GSD3's.

Thanks Paul I was wondering weather to go for 255 rears as per the S spec and keep the fronts the same. I think the tyre make is just as important as how the car performs,so I'm going to look at the bridgestone and pirreli route because Im not keen on the goodyears . I think having quite rare cars there is not a lot of feedback on what makes suit the cars so renewing tyres becomes a nightmare!!!!!!!
