After adjusting the valves I tried to start the engine. It starts direct, the fan is strangly blowing (engine is cold) and the idle is very unstable. Then it stops (I can't see the fault code because some lines are missing=next job) If I put the ign on I hear the fuel pump and it stops. It runs again and it stops. (14 liter fuel in tank)
I had never before any problem with the engine and I did not disconnect any cable for the valve clearance.
If a disconnect the battery no difference
Why the fan is running (only one) is a miracale or not?
What to do next?

Can you connect the diagnostics ?
Is the pod display giving a sensible temp reading ?
The fans are staged to bring up one then two as it gets hotter...based on the temp sensor in the head iirc.
Are you sure you didnt accidentally dislodge the connector on one of those sensors (beneath the throttle bodies) ?

No, I do not have them yet. I adjusted the valves from the exhaust side and did not disconnect the sensors on the inlet side at all. Only the sparkplug cables. The engine is running on 6 cilinders but not stable and is stalling after some seconds. The fan is blowing from the first moment I put the ign on.
Is it the ECU ?
Is it the ECU ?
I do not have AC (Airco ) I checked the sensors but it seems to be OK. The engine stalls after some seconds so I do not have any temp reading. (I runs a little bit in the idle mode seems to be) It does not accepts higher revs)
Strange after adjusting the valves. I never had any elektronic problem with the engine before.
When I work on the car I disconnect the battery (I have an emergency switch) Is this the problem for the ECU perhaps?

Puzzling!
An EFI fault implies that the ECU is not able to get control of the air/fuel mixture. Are you sure all the plug leads are on in the right order...dont forget that at the coil pack end there are 2 leads that are not as-marked on the coil pack (see Grahams Sagaris site for a nice picture). I wonder if you have two plugs swapped around ? Or perhaps the lead tops have not fully engaged onto the plugs.

Swapped spark plugs, may be but why are the fans running? Not a logical cause and combination.
Looks like you've lost a sender input or a bad earthing.
What I would do:
- connect a computer at ECU and check all incoming signals
If you don't have that opportunity :
- check fuses
- check sender connections
- uncsrew and tighten the bulkhead connector (engine wiring harnass) behind the airbox, could be a bad connection
- Do you have temp readings (oil?, water ? with only ignition on ? You should be able to read them
Ronald.

It is more and more strange. I have zero oilpressure on the pod but oil pressure (manual tested) is OK. Engine is running very poor sometimes on 5 then 6 cilinders. I changed the sparkplug cables and of course the right order. (no result) The fan is blowing and the temp values are normal (exept still zero oilpressure)
I ordered a cable to test the ECU on the laptop later in the week.
so;
adjusted the valves and only removed and checked the plug. No work on the connectors, sensors etc at all.
direct afterwards;
-fan is running
-zero oilpressure only on pod (no shim in the oilpressure pump lucky for me)
-smelly exhaust fumes (EFI problems)
-EFI fault on the POD
-sometimes running on 6 then 5 cilinders
-unstable running
I do hope I can find out the real reason. So many strange things together!

Its totally weird I agree
I sounds like you've lost an earth connection or perhaps a fuse has blown ? Zero oil pressure would not result from an open circuit on the sender...then it reads 99 iirc.
Coincidence that it happened during some work ? Doubtful. But why, and what happened is another matter. Lifting off the CAM cover can push the wiring loom around that feeds the fuel injectors and to some degree the throttle pots. But the fan, the oil pressure, the weird running, the smelly exhaust. Its got to be that there's something electrical wrong.
Can you try this: Use a DMM or basic multi-meter to measure the voltage on the oil pressure sender connector (unplug it off the sender). I wonder if its not even got any volts on it. Also check all the fuses one-by-one just in case.

Thanks for the support, it helps. I have the laptop cable now and will look into the system this weekend. I changed the plugs (new ones). Sprayed all the electrical connections to be sure. Checked the earth cables etc. Checked again the plugcables (again new ones) No result at all.
I'm happy that I have oil pressure. (Strange feeling , running a engine with zero on the pod)

I give up! I bring the car next week to a specialist on the trailer.
can't make the speed six software work on a old XP prof. laptop.
Changed the sensors, made another earth cable to the engine. Checked everyting 10 times over. No result whatever.
It must be a problem with the ECU I think.

Have you checked the mulitplug under the bulkhead?
It sounds like you have lost feeds to the ECU. Fan will run as a default, no oil pressure from sender, EFI fault etc.
It will then be in limp mode.
After that break and make ECU connector.
I assume you put the sensor back on the air box and it is seated OK.

yes, I checked the plugs (and spray it in) under the bulkhead. I checked all the fuses also. I made another massive earthcable to the engine/chassis
The last option is to use the ECU from another Tuscan but I don't know it is safe (I have another ECU from a Red Rose from 2001)
Question about the software. I burned a copy from www.mytuscan.co.uk on my desktop with Vista on it. If I put this burned CD in an old XP prof. laptop it is asking assistance/confirmation from the internet all the time.(this old laptop doesnot have access to Internet) Why? Something wrong with the download?
