allowed to drive export reg. Tuscan in the UK?
Discussion
I am Buying a Tuscan and i am wondering if I am allowed to drive the car back home to germany.
car will be insured, has MOT and Tax on it.
But am i allowed to drive the car in the UK.
car will be registered as export... so not sure if i am allowed, because at the bored they will check all documents and surely they will see that the car is registered as export.
thank you

Why will it be registered as export immediately after purchase.
Just delay sending off the v5.
As long as you are insured and car is mot'd you should be fine.
In the strictest terms you shouldn't. In reality absolutely impossible to enforce in the first few days after purchase.
but i guess when i pick up the Tuscan, the buyer will have to complete the export part, or?Just delay sending off the v5.

or do i have to send him some papers back?
thing is that i would take the train back and there they will check all documents.

The seller completes a new keeper piece - you provide the details.
This is posted to DVLA who will update the records on the police computers - look at that taking 10-14 days to complete.
You will be given the remainder of the V5 - this will include the yellow export slip.
You fill that in and send it to DVLA.
You keep the remainder of the V5 to present at your local customs import office.
Remember to get a signed bill of sale from the vendor that includes the VIN number.
You may get pulled at the port as your car could be shown 'In Trade' if bought from a dealer - a private sale will not have been updated at DVLA.
Present the V5 you have, with the bill of sale, the insurance docs and you'll be allowed out.
This worked for me with 3 separate vehicles. I was only stopped at the port with one of them.
This is why cars get stolen so often in the UK for export!
