Given the choice, what are the pros and cons of the 3.6 and 4.0 l speed six engines, on brand new car, are they both going to have had the gremlins work out?

I thought that on a new car you could only spec the 4.0 if it's a Tuscan S. Could be wrong, though. I've only driven a couple of 3.6s, but they seemed a bit smoother but possibly down on power. Could be my imagination, though.

Anyway, the reliability problems were largely down to the finger followers which have (allegedly) been sorted now on all the S6s. I'm sure I've heard some people saying that the 3.6 is more reliable, but I can't think why that would inherently be the case...

I bought a new Tuscan in March last year, and was offered the choice of a 3.6 or 4L. It is not the "S". I chose the 4L. I have had no problems to speak of, and am very happy.

For info the 3.6 is about 350bhp the 4L is 360 or 380, and the "S" is 390bhp. Insurance for the 3.6 or 4L was the same, so I figured why not have the 4L, and I did.

As far as I know you can spec a 4.0 on a new Tuscan. As has been said the power and more importantly the torque is up on the 4.0.

There is a noticeable difference between a 3.6 and a 4.0, probably more so than a 4.0 and an "S".
