Hi folks,

Relatively new Mk2 Tuscan owner here. After driving it around for a little while I noticed a new rattling noise today on slightly bumpy roads that I'm sure wasn't there before. After parking up I checked a few things and then gave the exhausts a bit of a wiggle. The right exhaust is pretty solid and in place but the left exhaust seems to be loose and you can shake it. Shake it enough and it'll make a noise (hitting something else under the car). I believe this is the source of the sound as I'm pretty sure it's not meant to be like that.

Anyone heard of this problem, or had it before? Tried a few google and forum searches and looked at the TVR Tuscan owner's guide common problems but couldn't find anything on it. Think this is something I can fix myself, something a local garage can do or something I should go to a TVR specialist for? I'm hoping this is just going to be a quick tightening up of some nuts and bolts or similar but have no knowledge of the make-up of the car.

exhaust hooks onto a rubber hanger just before the end can - could have come off this?

Thanks for the quick tip. I tried to get a quick look at it earlier but the light wasn't great so I'll try again tomorrow and see if a friend can help me jack it up safely. Do you have any idea what side of the can the hangar will be on? It's the left can so I assume I should be looking to the right of the can, or above it.

Mine had a crack between the silencer and the pipe leading to the can, I think the weld was weakened when the previous owner swapped the cans. This crack made one side wobble and look low. I had it fixed and had triangular plates welded between silencer and tail pipe to reinforce it. Nice and solid now.

mine has done this a couple of times, the hanger is held between 2 nuts and the lower one can work loose, fixed mine by adding lock nuts to the lower ones (the ones with plastic inserts)
not worked loose since

There is a hanger for each pipe in the centre of the car at about arms reach, then a rubber strap towards the back of the rear wheel arches. I replaced all mine the other week.

Managed to get a proper look under the car today and found the problem. The piece of metal the bolts actually tighten up against had come clean off and needs some welding done to it. Unfortunately we didn't have the tools necessary to weld on to stainless steel so I think this will be a garage job. In the mean-time we've implemented a stop-gap solution by tightening up the bolts against a handy cranny where the metal had come off. Added another bolt so they don't come off.

I'd be content if it weren't for the fact the left can is now quite a bit closer to the bottom of the car than before (and if you look closely it's not parallel with the right can).
