Where is the window decoder?

Hi all,
I have one of those 'mad' passenger windows that doesn't know what it's doing. Every adjustment is followed by a led flashing indicating that it thinks it's stalled. This is accompanied by strange behaviour opening and closing the door.
Anyhow, I had the door apart the weekend (including adjusting it as it had dropped - proved quite easy), and I couldn't find anything inside that looked like it could be at fault.
Could someone tell me where I can locate the coder/decoder that is likely to be the cause of the problem? I want to at least have a go at it before resigning myself to the dealer (I was an electronics wiz in a previous life).
