I am a bit confused and wondered if anyone could help!!

I would like to upgrade my headlight bulbs to HID's. I currently have the standard ones that come with the MK2 and not the bulbs that come with the MK2s.

On Racing Green TVR Parts shop there is a "Lighting Kit, HID Gas Units" Part No H7 6000k for £158.40 however there is also a "Lamp Main Gas Discharge Kit" Part No TVR M1754 for £355.50

Does anyone know what the difference is and why one is a lot more expensive than the other? I would like the HID's to work on the dip beem preferably.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Ian

Hi Ian, you need an H7 HID kit and can be found quite cheaply on ebay, I've done this myself and very easy to fit. Would suggest only fitting to headlights not main beam as HIDs take a second or two to warm up so not so suitable to main beam as use them to flash (you know what I mean) which MOT testers don't like.

Think mine cost about £70 and have been great, much much better than originals.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for that James. I'll have a look on ebay tonight and search "H7 HID Kit" and see what's about. I've got my MOT/Service the week after next so I might leave the fitting to them as I know its a bonnet off job!

You dont happen to know if yours are 6000k as I know this is the blueness. I dont want them to look chav! and also the company on ebay you got yours from?

Thanks again.

A quick ps to the above.....

Having had a quick search, I've now seen mention to a H4 bulb for the tuscan and option of 35w or 55w. I'm guessing this has already been discussed but just wondered if someone had a quick answer.

Is it definately a "H7 HID Kit" that I would need for a direct replacement for my tuscan Mk2 standard headlights and 35w or 55w?? confused

H7 yes I'm looking to fit a 35W kit sometime soon to my dipped beam, probably from here http://www.hids4u.co.uk/h7-35w-proplus-xenon-hid-c... to match the the main beam as per the standard factory fit on the 'S'. Note, if you do a search for Tuscan on that site it comes up with H4, but the manual states H7, don't know if the Mk1 is different?

Both Tuscan 1 & 2 are H7 bulbs, think I went for 8000k and doesn't look too chav, nice light to drive by. Don't remember being a choice of 35w or 55w, think this may be for H4 only.

Choice of 35W or 55W with H7 too http://www.hids4u.co.uk/h7-xenon-hid-conversion-ki...thumbup

I'm just sticking with 35W to match the existing high beam yes

Thanks for feedback on this. I've decided to go for the H7 35w ProPlus Xenon HID Conversion Kit from HIDS4U.co.uk.

Do you think I would need "Canbus Pro" as I've seen this mentioned on some kits??

I would like to put LED's in side lights as well. I have another thread on this but not much feedback. Does anyone know if they are 501 bulbs?

Ian,

You just need the normal kit. Canbus is a bit like multiplexing, using one or two 'loop' wires instead of lots of different circuits, as far as I know it's never been used on TVR's. Can't confirm/remember what the sidelight is, but I have a capless bulb in my spares kit ie a 501, so hope I got it right originally because short of lifting the bonnet off I can't check frown

Thanks for all the info on this. I'm going to order them this week and get them fitted at the weekend. Car is being serviced and MOT'd by Andy at Dorset Jag and Sports cars.

Not 100% sure but that's what I'm going for, doesn't seem to be a reflector in there.
