Been fixing some of my niggles with the nice driving weather back again, and thought i would share some of these, bit more cost effective than some of the TVR parts specialists and in some cases better!

My rear bootlid gas strut had lost its oomph....could no longer keep it (the boot) up smile.... company called SGS does the strut off the shelf for £15+VAT. Great delivery and strut works perfectly, just the right amount of 'up' action biggrin ... http://www.sgs-engineering.com/shop/categories/sea...

My drivers wing mirror was discouloured at the bottom adge and very annoying (to me anyway smile ) . EBay! Convex, heated replacement glass with backplate. £12 delivered. I didnt use the backplate - reused the old one, works great - now have a perfect mirror again!!

Rear screen seal, mine had pershed, squashed and gone a bot green in places. Replaced with D section from www.cbsonline.co.uk, fit is a little tighter than before so i am hoping it will give a little in time, but it took only 5 minutes to fit and its a perfect airtight seal. £16 all in, and in my opinion better than the original.

Hope they help someone else too thumbup

That's useful, thanks. I need to do the rear screen seal and I think the boot seal as I noticed that the boot was a bit damp after getting caught in a rain storm the other day.

I was just looking into changing the gas strut... can I ask what size and force you went for? Any reason why you wouldn't go for an adjustable unit?

Also interested in the rear screen seal, although mine's not that bad tbh.

14mm x 13mm self adhesive rubber d section.

http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/14mm_x_13mm__SE...

4 metres is adequate.

It is tight though so you have been warned!! as i say, hoping mine will give, great airtight seal but takes more effort to fit the screen than it did (but to be fair that had air gaps everywhere!. Still using standard screen clips though with the soft side of some self adhesive velcro on. May try some PTFE spray to help it a bit.

The strut was a standard part to be honest so no need for an adjustable one (which are more expensive), i didnt even consider it. I may do though if i do the bonnet conversion later in the year.

Have ordered one too. How much force was required to remove the old mirror?

Cheers.

You can get your fingertips behind the edge of the mirror, then ease it out and the backplate will just pop off the mounting plate on the motor.
To get the old backplate off i heated with a heat gun, guess a hair dryer would do! Then gently prised it apart. I used a flat bladed screwdriver then my fingers. wish i has worn gloves for that bit!!! hehe

here you go...you have to note left / right / both when you purchase.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

The heated element connectors are in a slightly different position than the OEM but TBH a little fettling on the plastic backplate and its a very minor issue!!

I also ran round the edge with an oil stone to tidy up but it wasnt really necessary...

Oh...and bonus....it was only £11 hehe

Thanks for the info. Do you have a direct link to the proper gas strut also? (lots of types...).

Thanks for sharing the info, the standard Camlock boot strut struggles to keep the boot lid with the large spoiler open on mine so will try one of the adjustable ones.

Found it, turns out they have it listed as specifically for TVR Tuscan.
