Hi all....got to the petrol station this morning and the boot wouldnt open. Sh*t!! Got to work on fumes but don't know the method for getting the boot open manually.

Would be very grateful if anyone is able to ping me a note on how to do it?

Cheers
Paul

Hi thanks for your reply. I scarpered from my desk for a bit and have spent a good 15 minutes or so trying with both the car ignition on and off. No luck - any other ideas? It's been a bit temperamental recently but I have always been able to get the boot open after a few presses of the badge. Typical that it gives up when I most need some fuel.

Try pressing the badge continuously and at the same time applying a little bit of upward pressure to the boot lid.

Lately mine has been playing up a bit as well, and I find that this works. Maybe it's just luck, but you could give it a try. There are a couple of threads with instructions on how to fix this with the 2 pence coin, but have not had the time to try it yet.. It's on the to do list..!

You probably now have a solution sat in your email inbox by the looks of things, but what i will add is that you shouldnt drive it again until you get some fuel in there!

The gauges over read by between 3 and 5 litres.

I know this because i ran mine down to change the fuel hose - gauge said 8 litres and i got only 3 out... eek

Think you might be confusing methods of getting in with the mechanism itself.

Phewee petrol in the tank now and no need for the bus home. Thank you very much for your help on this...much appreciated. In the end I had one last attempt using Arapo's technique of applying continuous pressure to the button with a gentle press on the boot. Next job solenoid for sure. Cheers.

have had the gauge down to -2 litres on mine so you may have fuel. Also known of others who have run out at 3 or 4 litres so they are very much like all TVRs - they are a comparator rather than an absolute measure. A dealer who knows you (or independent) should be able to help.

:-) Glad it worked..!

I run out of petrol on the first weekend of ownership, although it was showing 5 litres on the pod. Very embarrassing..
