Blessing:
you can quickly get into engine bay to see what's happening

Curse:
I keep tinkering and cleaning

Curse:
After a long drive then stop and idling in my garage, while I checked the adaptives, got hot enough for both fans to come on. Its only when you open the bonnet that you realise how scary high the temps are under there (the metal bonnet props I fitted to the far edges of the bonnet were almost too hot to touch, both sides!). OMG. Might be better not to know (just infer from the smell of things approaching melting point wink )

VERY SCARY indeed...!

This explains a few things, like the too hot to touch gearstick, etc...

Wouldn't you have to coat the whole system though as all you would do is move the heat away from the manifolds to the exhaust where there is even less heat protection for adjoining parts, chassis etc

I have the Cats done aswell... But my concern was paint on the bonnet blistering with the heat from exhaust from cylinder 6.

I don't mean to be cheeky, but what sort of money are we talking to get the manifolds and cats coated?

Maybe a silly question but would wrapping the exhaust manifold give the same effect as wrapping one on a turbo car...i.e flames smile

About £500 for manifolds and cats, but cost £200 labour (all not including VAT) to have them removed and refitted...bit of a pig of a job, and plenty of loss of knuckle skin. I choose sterling silver, but a range of colours. I did have problems with the paint flaking off first time, but Zircotec did redo FOC, but admitted it was their fault. Cost me again to remove and refit. They do the job well...not suprising since the coating was developed by UKAEA/Harwell for Nuclear Reactors. The look good aswell smile .
