Any experiences?

Specifically, has anyone had their BMW diesel remapped by them?

Standard Power (Bhp) 150

Modified Power (Bhp) 216

Standard Torque (lb/ft) 243

Modified Torque (lb/ft) 311

Giving the 320d 12 more bhp than a standard late model 330d and 9 lb/ft more torque...

Seem to be massive gains. Feasible?

They are quite well known for tuning the 2.2 cdti Honda engine. Personally if you can run to them I would get your BMW done at DMS.

A tuner that offers black-and-white generic power increases with no dyno facilities to back it up? scratchchin

However, they are well established, and I've never heard any bad reports.

A friend of mine has his Alfa JTD 150 remapped by them recently. It was only when he put it on a dyno and it made 165 instead of 185 that he realised all was not well. In fairness however, as soon as he complained they came out again, loaded another map which delivered the promised results and everyone was happy.

It seems they have a variety of maps available, so may be worth discussing it properly with them to decide how aggressive you want it before going ahead?

Yes Paul makes a good point. They have for the Honda diesel at least 2 maps a 190 and a 197. The 197 requires an upgraded clutch.

They had a good rep on the SEAT forums when I had my Ibiza - pretty sure they haven't done anything to upset that reputation, as far as I know. Check out on SEATCupra.net.

Seems the DMS map will take it to around the same power & torque, so probably not. But I know where I'd rather spend my money given the choice...

Thanks guys, did do some googleing but wanted to see if you had any first hand experience.

Reason being that somebody has contacted me (like a bus, none come along etc etc) with a 320d for part ex and it has been remapped, or "retuned" as he told me - said it gives him a few extra mpg on the commute too.

Would be interesting to contact them and see if they could give me an indication as to how aggressive the map was etc.

I always worry that you never know how the car has been driven as well. Map tends to suggest either ragging it or an enthusiast. Two extremes.

The power claims are realistic and most tuners dont develop (I know a few do) their own maps but rather buy them in through a subscription to a developer so would be quoting the developers figures. Its quite likely that you will get the same map from quite a few tuners and there will be no difference at all unless you go to a tuner who is developing their own maps

I seem to remember on the Briskoda forum that they could get massive gains in bhp & torque, the downside of course being that it would eat your clutch within a couple of weeks!

What a disappointment. When I saw Celtic Tuning I thought I was going to read about lifting the bonnet and beating the engine with a lump of wood.

Interesting you should say that. When I told DMS that there was another company boosting the Honda Diesel to 190/197 they said they would not take the engine to that level of output. The Civic diesel is well capable of eating it's own clutch and dual mass flywheel without even needing to add a remap of circa 190 horses into the equation.
