Can anyone give me some information on replacing my floor as mine is getting a bit soft in places? I have had a look underneath and can not see any bolts, screws etc. there seems to be fibreglass on the inside of the floor and a flange of about 1 1/2" from the side of the geep going underneath. I intend to replace the floor with 1/8" ali as I am not going to use the hard top or doors, so she's going to get wet from time to time. Any information would be usesfull i.e. problems and pitfalls, tips and shortcuts.

You need to visit the technical web site at
http://joctecweb.future.easyspace.com

When the front page loads go to the bottom and click on replace that floor title.
As you are planning to use ali instead wood use the way of marking up the new floor to make the templates which will then allow you to transfer the dimensions on to the ali.

Whilst on the technical web site have a good look round especially the FAQ page as it has quite a few good items on it.

Thanks Chris,

I tried to get to your tech site the other day but found it unavailable. Tried it again today, found lots of interesting stuff. Just as a matter of interest, I took out my carpet and seats today and when I leant on the floor to remove the centre tunnel, FELL THROUGH THE FLOOR!! I have just replaced my engine and gearbag today from a doner 1600Ghia Mk2 escort. I am going to put the old engine and gearbag back in the escort and race it at Great Yarmouth Stadium in rookie bangers. Hope I dont damage the front legs or rear axle as they are both AOK but the Escort is too good to weigh-in as it only has 2 little holes in the front of the inner sills, original arches and is sound as a £ underneath. Let the old girl go out in style jacking up some Sierra into a corner post.
