registratin SVA
Discussion
i have a 1972 mk 1 escort i wish to use thparts from this vehicle to make a geep as i have a body of one.I intend to hmake my own chassis. will i have to take the vehicle to be tested ( SVA ) or will a MOT cover me and use the original number plate off the escort, thuse making it tax exempt and a age related plate.
As you are making up the vehicle "as new" it will have to under go the SVA test.
Depending on the parts used you may be able to keep the original number plate otherwise it will be either Q plate or age related (the year it is SVA'd)
It may not be allowed tax exemption as it will be classed as a "new" vehicle.
The other problem you will have is the V5 (log book) as you say you are going to make your own chassis.
This means it will not have the Jago chassis and therefore chassis number so can not be registered as a Jago. It can not be registered as an Escort as it is not one.
It may even be a case of removing the Jago marking from the body (windscreen surround and back panel/hatch of body) as if it was sold on and any problems occurred it may cause you hassle.
It may be easier for you in the long run to either contact Jago Developments on 01243 789 366 and ask if they can produce you a chassis or advertise on the Transmissions web site
www.transmissionsonline.org.uk
for a second hand chassis.
Of course this is only advice and as such you are free to say sod that and carry on with your own plans.
I have just made you aware of the pit falls that may occur with your present idea.
