Hi

Yes you can get (or they are still listed so hopefully) a new tank from Emsworth Car & Cycle for £70 plus £14.69 Securicor delivery direct from the Manufacturers.
Emsworth's phone number is 01243 372742

Hi All
That's great news about their availability but...

I still fondly remember the 105E fuel tank on my first jeep which nestled snugly up against the rear floor between the chassis rails and was never in danger of being dinged off-road. I know a few people have resorted to bash plates or mounting a small custom tank behind the seats but has anyone seen a slim underfloor tank like the 105E one but with a low mounted side filler neck??? I don't really want to move the filler cap from the side to the rear...
Cheers
Ian

... presumably the filler neck enters the tank at the top pointing backwards. Ideally a tank is needed where the filler neck enters on the off-side at the back as low as possible but pointing sideways.

I'm still surprised that no-one has prototyped one that fits in place of the Escort tank with the requisite flanges front and back.

Again the Anglia tank was good in that it was strapped in place which meant it didn't have the stress concentrated around the boltholes on the flanges.

All the best

We may look into the possibilty of having some tanks bespoked that fit better next year.

Now you're talking....
It only needs to be a slab design with the filler neck and flanges in the right place. Should be enough room between the chassis rails to accommodate 8 gallons or so without going too low. Just needs an inch between the tank and the underside of the floor to clear the fuel gauge sender and breather.
Put me down for one, or two.

Now urgent !!!
I filled up the 1600 4spd yesterday and the petrol fumes hung around so I checked and the seam of the tank is well damp. I siphoned 10 litres out just to be on the safe(r) side.

Will the bespoke tanks be along any time soon or has anyone got a serviceable tank going cheap???

Cheers

Due to unforseen circumstances we have not yet managed to look into getting tanks bespoked.
At the moment it is either Ian Harwood on 0151 3392801 who may have a second hand estate/van tank or find a Reliant Robin or a 1985 VW Polo with a good tank. The Polo tank part number is RK-952 600-8

Otherwise it is a case of does anyone else have a good tank or contact Emsworth Car and Cycle for a new one on 01243 372742
