My Geep passed it's Mot on Friday after a short overhaul and 12 yrs in a garage! So not only am I immensley relieved, I am also one step closer to Newark!

Any Jago South West owners interested in convoying up to Newark? Reply on this thread or drop me a line direct. I am based just west of Exeter so could meet up somewhere A30/M5 ish.

Would be good to make a weekend of it - along with the fact that equipped with an assortment of tools and a tow rope as insurance, we stand a much better chance of making it together!!

Look forward to hearing from any one interested.

Pete

Sounds good to me, I'm in Wells, Somerset.
Have not planned the route as yet, but I'm going to be there - though my 1300 will only cruise at 50 to 60

Count me in - I am starting off from Helston. - ditto only a 1300 and I shall be towing my trailer tent with a surplus hardtop strapped to it - so expect to be struggling to get 55 except with the wind behind me.

Just looked at the mileage according to Mapquest 335 miles, i suggest M5 onto M42 etc.

Great stuff. I have to sort fuel issue this week and then we're on.

Cruising speed sounds fine - I once had a two week holiday travelling from Hampshire to tour in Scotland, and that was with a 1300 and trailer at 50mph! Great fun and in September too!

Jon are you planning to do the whole journey in one hit? If you want to break at Exeter Thursday night we have plenty of room. Let me know.

Motorway although dull, is about the only straightforward way to cover that distance so yes M5/M42 should do us.

Dave - where's best place to meet with you on M5? Sedgemoor services perhaps, or further north?

A break at Exeter sounds good, that will be the first 111 miles clocked when I reach Exeter Services - real miles not my speedo's guestimat. I start my holiday on Thursday. I'll confirm the stopover nearer the time. Where are you.

Looking good for a convoy - I'll see if I cant get a flashing light and a slow vehicles sign!!
best meeting point for me would perhaps be Gordano services - to get to the northbound side of Sedgemoor I would have to go a bit too far south ( but I'll check out the service entrance, southbound is accessable 24/7)

Okay, just let me know which service area is best. We can sort times later. I'll look out for the Jago wildly adorned with flashing lights.

With luck I shall sort my carb problem this week, so will keep you updated on that.

Convoy it is - don't think we should have too many Smokey problems though! Oh for a 55mph speed limit; then we could break it!

We can meet Gordano - I guess we had better do an exchange of mobile numbers.

If we phone when we are leaving Exeter that should give Dave time for a final cup of coffee before heading off to meet up with us.

Any more Sw Jagoers - come on Driftwood you could always provide support and backup with the Hyundi.

Hi Dave
We've not discussed times yet, and this really depends on when Jon leaves Cornwall, so watch this space for further info. We'll swop mobile numbers for the trip anyway, so if you'd like to let me have yours by e-mail then we can give you a shout en-route.

The more the merrier on this trip so will be delighted to see you there.

Due to the state of my partner's health I will be leaving early on Friday morning - don't want to be away for too long. I can aim for Exeter 9am ish if I leave at 6. That is unless hospital appointments wreck that idea - at the moment (since she got a referal to see a specialist on monday) everything is iffy.

Keep your fingers Xed nothing gets worse.

Unfortunately Jon won't be joining us, so that leaves me from Exeter, Dave from Wells & Sedgey is joining at Birmingham - any more volunteers to meet us along the way?

Due to a domestic crisis this morning in the form of a gas leak, broken boiler and an empty LPG tank I am unable to make the journey to Newark this weekend. Sorry to those that rallied to the call for a convoy!

Wasted all that time on route planning too!

it'll take an RPG 7 and perhaps an earthquake to stop me. Slight disaster here too (not on aqua's scale though!) I've been lumbered with a four year old - he has volunteered to look after a certain hamster, biggest drawback is that the doors and top are now back in place!
If anyone is still available for a meet on route email me with your location and mobile number
