what jap or other far east cars were RWD?
looking at other posts (for ex. rover K series) has set me thinking (dangerous)
a scrap yard tour could well come up with some interesting donor options - so which ones to look for?
another possible option - older fiats? was the good old 124s the last rwd or are there others?
Thinking is: most jap and non ford engines of the 70's and 80's were fairly economic and a lot were fairly powerfull without being over complicated.
Another thought - used to attach ford engines to VW transmissions in the old days, a fairly simple matter of an adapter plate that could be made in almost any workshop, though I have to admit that fewer bolts were used than should have been (I made quite a few for hot rods) what widely available modern units can be adapted with DIY methods?

Problem with most basic 70's + 80's RWD Jap stuff is there is such a healthy export trade in them making it hard to get a bargain basement donor , Sedgy rates the rwd Hyundai Pony which I think was available as a 1200 and 1400 , they make cracking banger cars so once again may be hard to find but would be a great reliable alternative , might be worth finding out who has the contract for your local authority for removal of untaxed/abandoned vehicles its a long shot but as they get paid good money for removing them they might do you a good deal on a complete car as long as all ID is removed.

I have a colleague who wishes to dispose of two Toyota Starlets for not much money. They are runners but would cost money to scrap where he is. Probably wants about £50 each- interested before he advertises them??? In Norfolk.
Cheers
