Sources of clunks/gearboxes

Got myself a new one (and rejoined the club). Floor has been replaced along with bushes shocks and most of the braking system.
Big worry was stange metallic clunking noise. thought the engine was on the way out but it seemed to run fine, new propshaft (from old dead Geep)didn't help. Finally traced to exceptionally worn bonnet hinges. Anyone used something other than the Imp hinges as the ones on dead Geep are very worn?
Next the gear lever came out in my hand. This also happened in the dead one and was cured by a long slow conversion to a 5 speed box. I really can't afford (via divorce) to have this one off the road just yet....... Looking in the Haynes manual Ford appear to have created a mod to stop this but I cant seem to find where to get the bits. Any ideas? Otherwise what about a quickshift kit vert firmly locktighted into place? This is currently plan A until someone tells me different.
Finally I now have 2 sets of bull bars, a set os rear side facing seats and eventually a rotting hulk with all useful bits ripped off it looking for a good home.

Check out Emsworth Car & Cycle (address on Transmissions suppliers page) for their stainless hinges. Should cost about £12 incl postage. A good first modification for any jeep. Certainly the best £12 I've ever spent.
As to gearlever, depends which box and what is coming undone.

Having just sold an engine and gearbox today and found how much space they took up I have reluctantly decided to dispose of my cherished collection of Ford 4 speed gearboxes. I found a 1300 with integral bellhousing- first gear has a problem so that's free if you wish to collect. I also have two Cortina 1600 Mk2 single rail boxes. One has a bellhousing- I thought £30 each for those. I also have a Cortina 2000S Mk4 box, it's a 4spd so £30 again. I know the history of each one having broken most of their donor vehicles. If a serious collector (like me) were to take all four in one go- I'd be open to an offer against the £90- you'd find it hard to insult me...
