Discussion
im having a bit of trouble!! slightly confused!! the wiper motor on my geep has packed up!! i was going to take the motor off my second geep so's i could use the geep but i found i have 2 different motors!! i dont know what motor is the usual and which is the different!! the motor im looking for is a circular box about 6/7inches long attached to the tub just above foot level on the bulkhead passenger side with a tube that runs up to the wipers!! im not entirly sure if this helps but the wipers lay down to the right and sweep to over to the left where as on my second jeep they are oppisite!! any help would be greatly appreciated as i cant use the geep at the mo due to bad weather!!

If the wiper motor unit is round with a tube that runs along to each wiper arm box (the boxes can have the back taken off by undoing two small nuts) then it is a Mini (or to be more precise as other models shared the same system the BL wiper system). I believe Land Rover still use this system in the 110 type vehicles.
The reason for the opposite wipe action (apart from it possibly being a different system) is that you can alter the way the wipers go by (a) changing the position of the cable on the big gear in the gearbox attached to the motor or (b) putting the wiper boxes with the cable either above or below the wiper spindle gear (the wiper box is fitted either way up).
The easy way to tell if it is the "Mini" system is to take the back off one of the wiper arm boxes and if there is a spiral cable running along a gear like pulley then it is the BL system.
This system comes in either (if my information is correct) single or two speed motor set up.
I know some of the earlier Geeps used the Anglia or Mk1 Escort wiper system but this was a motor and rod system that sat on the middle part of the windscreen scuttle with the two wiper stalks sticking out through the panel.
