Hi all!! Ive came across a little problem with my Geep!! Im not sure as to how long its been like it but I had a kind motorist point it out to me a few days ago!! Ive tried to source the problem but with no luck what so ever!!! Every now and then (more often then not) I have no brake lights, Indicators, Reverse lights and the heater doesnt work!! All dash lights up fine, even the flasher to say the indicators are working.... the only visible give away I have noticed is the digital rev counter goes off when applying the brakes or using any of mentioned above!! Im thinking a bad earth??? Ive traced all the wires I can get my hands on and all seem fine!! even tried a multimeter on them!! But with them working sometimes and not others its hard to find anything!! Just wondering.....has anybody else had the same/similar problem??? If so, how or what was done to solve it??? Im in desperate need of some help as I use my geep everyday and is my only transport! And I dont really want mr plod giving me any greef!! Any help gratful!!

Try seeing if the loom moves under braking since it appears that you are losing everything when under way. The main loom under the scuttle would be my first port of call. Let us know if this helps.

Agreed- the main loom has a number of multi-pin connectors in it. One shake and you lose the lot. I seem to remember that some double as bulkhead grommets, or was that just on the Anglia loom???

As ever, you can't have enough good, clean, lightly copper-greased, shakeproof-washered earthing points.
Good Luck

Hi Mal,

A tip I have found useful is to check the voltage on the earth of the unit you are having trouble with. If you get any volts at all it's a bad earth.
